New script[edit]

Congrats on the new script, but I am confused; I don't have the buttons/links in my Tools area on the left that the new doc page mentions (except for Linkspam, the only one that keeps it's old button.link name). I checked and I still have the Sources.js importScript statement in my common.js. I have deleted and saved and re-added to common.js and saved, cleared my cache, and restarted my Chrome browser, and tried it in a different browser (IE), rebooted, nothing causes them to appear. Please correct the following:

'Fix news sources'" is not the name of the button/link, it is "Fix SOURCES". (Maybe change it to lower case; if so, match name in doc)
Why not rename the button/link "Linkspam" to have a verb like the rest: "Remove linkspam" or "Rem linkspam" (and match name in doc)
'Unlink source name' is in the doc twice; remove one.
'Rem publishers' ain't there. The button/link does not appear in under Tools.

CS1 publisher[edit]

Per this edit, this script is non-compliant with the following CS1 guidance for |publisher=.

Name of publisher; may be wikilinked if relevant. The publisher is the company that publishes the work being cited. Do not use the publisher parameter for the name of a work (e.g. a book, encyclopedia, newspaper, magazine, journal, website). Not normally used for periodicals. Corporate designations such as "Ltd", "Inc" or "GmbH" are not usually included. Omit where the publisher's name is substantially the same as the name of the work (for example, The New York Times Co. publishes The New York Times newspaper, so there is no reason to name the publisher).

Do you mean the CNN cite? CNN is a website but also a broadcaster, so I think that "publisher" rather than "website" may be more appropriate, but no sure. What do you think? - Cwobeel (talk) 17:41, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Cwobeel: The publisher is the company that publishes the work being cited. The operative word is "company". CNN is not a company but a cable TV channel and a website. If a publisher were coded there, it would be Turner Broadcasting System or Time Warner. Likewise, local TV stations are not companies in the publisher sense; the publisher for KTLA is Tribune Broadcasting or Tribune Media. Even more obvious: How is charlestoncounty.org a company? It's an Internet domain name and a website. I happen to own a domain name and have a website, and they are neither company nor publisher. ―Mandruss ☎ 18:44, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I have asked for opinions at Help_talk:Citation Style 1#Clarify usage of publisher. If the community consensus supports this usage, so be it, but I don't currently believe that it does.
