Cristian Devenish

Hi, just wondering if there was any reason you created this footballer under this name, and not Cristian Castro? Castro would be the standard Hispanic surname for everyday use, and all the references seem to use "Castro". Richard3120 (talk) 22:37, 4 January 2021 (UTC)

Hey, the player plays with "Devenish" on his jersey [2], and is listed under that last name at the Boavista site here [3]. He also uses the last name Devenish in this ForaDeJogo site which is pretty reliable [4]. Style issues

Hi there, Ortizesp. I see you're still tirelessly creating new articles which is great. There are a few minor issues I'd like to draw your attention to because it becomes annoying when seeing them in thousands of articles:

• Per Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Players, the standard way to name the section about a players' club career is "Club career", not "Professional career".
• In prose, don't use the subject's surname in two successive sentences unless there's ambiguity. So, for example, it should be "Kikonda signed his first professional… . He made his professional debut… .", not "Kikonda signed his first professional… . Kikonda made his professional debut… .".
• For scores, we use en dashes, not hyphens, so it would be "3–0", not "3-0". See MOS:ENBETWEEN,
• Per WP:NOTBROKEN, the link for a player's in the full-back position is [[Left-back]], not [[Defender (association football)#Full-back|Left-back]].
• "uk.soccerway.com" or "ca.soccerway.com" are not the website's name, but "Soccerway".

The articles you are creating for reserve/youth players making their first league appearance (eg Tony Lesueur and Paul Schacherer today) are incorrect: They are not professional footballers, having never signed a professional contract (unless you can provide evidence of that) and therefore can not be said to be making their professional debut. Some of them are U19 players, per this. Also, the numbers 33, 34, 35 up to 39 are never permanently allocated to a player in Ligue 1 and Ligue 2, so those players should not have this shirt number in their infobox, nor should they appear with it in the club squadlist. I think that the most important source is the official page of the league, which contains the stats in real time of each player and coach, for example these are the pages of the former footballers that I put before.

Hello! I noticed you moved the page Álvaro Rodríguez Ros to Alvarito a few years ago. Can you please link some sources that tell me this is the common name? • Hey, I had to look through TFF for the Turkish games (which I'm familiar with), and Besoccer for the rest. Kind of a shame that the English FA doesn't track youth international games as well as other FAs. Here are the sources, I figured it was too much to put as references for U15 games. 1 - TFF, 2 - TFF, 3 - RBFA, 3 - Besoccer, 4 - Besoccer, 5 - Besoccer, 6 - Besoccer, 7 - Besoccer. To be honest, I just checked the Transfermarkt caps and backwards engineered searches, and they came out to be right.@Struway2:--Ortizesp (talk) 16:47, 4 June 2021 (UTC)
  • Thanks. The trouble with that method is it assumes that, if we find reliable sources to confirm Bellingham's appearances in the games listed by a WP-unreliable source, those must be the only games he appeared in: i.e. it assumes Transfermarkt to be both accurate and complete, which is an assumption we can't make. Added to which, BeSoccer doesn't list the Belgian or Dutch matches (they were both double-headers, Transfermarkt has him playing in the second of each pair of games but BeSoccer only lists the first), and the RBFA page only lists the Belgian team. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 19:08, 4 June 2021 (UTC)

I think it's time we asked at ANI for your editing restrictions to be loosened - I see no issue with you moving pages where all you are doing is dropping the maternal surname (so e.g. 'Gonzalo Suárez Llano' → 'Gonzalo Suárez' or 'Gonzalo Suárez (footballer)' or 'Gonzalo Suárez (footballer, born 1994)', so let's get consensus on it if you're happy? Hey Ortizesp, just a note: National youth team categories are separated into under-20 (under-21 for Europe) and youth categories, with the latter including everything from U13/15 to U19 (or U20 for Europe).
