Hello, I have been trying to turn this draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Louie_Holzman into an article for the professional footballer Louie Holzman. Unfortunately it seems like reviewing editors will now only accept these sorts of articles if there is extensive press coverage of a player. I notice that you have created many articles of players shortly after their debut, with limited press coverage, including several of Holzman's Reading team mates. I couldn't see exactly how WP:NBASIC is passed- the sources mainly appear to be routine announcements depending on non-independent quotes, the only independent source you stated, "Kastanaras feiert Bun­des­liga­debüt", is just five sentences and definitely not WP:SIGCOV. De-proding articles

Why are you mass deproding football articles with "deprod, take to afd to see if references can be found" reason every time, even though multiple people endorsed the nomination, like at Nejc Plesec, meaning that at least two people checked for significant coverage and didn't find any? You will NOT save those obscure, semi-pro/amateur footballers with a few caps in professional leagues from being deleted, so it's just postponing the deletion for 7 days. Addtionally Youtube is not listed as one of the pages you can't use on WP:UGC. Also, the Youtube page I listed is reliable for Jamaican news, the Youtuber has a personal connection with the Jamaican FA. The fact you didn't notice it before isn't a reason to reopen a discussion that was very much advertised and discussed. Would you please consider striking the false statements you made, which I will assume were made having not read any of the previous discussion. Sergei Ždanov

I moved the sailor back to Sergei Ždanov for a couple of reasons. First the single source spelt his name that way and gave Sergei Zdanov as an alternate. Secondly, the single source was not sufficient to establish notability, it was just a listing, and so I redirected him to Sailing at the 1980 Summer Olympics – 470. If sources can be found to establish notability then his article can be restored. I then moved the footballer back to the undisabiguated title. At the same time I redirected all the people on the Sailing at the 1980 Summer Olympics – 470 article who finished below fourth as they also lacked evidence of notability. Cheers. Deprodding

@Ortizesp:, When deproddding articles like Héctor Martínez (footballer, born 1967), saying "deprod, take to afd to see if references can be found" in the edit summary will just essentially delete the article, its better to find sources and then add them to the article and then deprod. @Ortizesp:, Im not saying don't deprod, what I mean is that when deprodding, bringing up AFD in the edit summary will make it more likely to get AFD, with will increase deletion likelihood, whereas if AFD is not brought up in edit summary, they may not think of AFD thus making it less likely to get deleted. There are other individuals that User:Clear Looking Glass removed from this category. There is an editor script that shows you what pages have been added or removed from a category recently (say, the past 4 days) that can indicate which articles have been removed. It's come in handy. Deprod without explanation

Hello,

Same with List of naturalised international footballers. I noticed that a significant number of football articles that get prodded and de-prodded without explanation by you, and of the ones I've seen, most of them end up being deleted at AFD anyway. Yes, we all realize that the PROD process is easily disrupted by design. What's being asked of you here is not that you stop deprodding articles you genuinely think could benefit from getting a few more eyes on them before deletion. It would simply be very considerate indeed if you could exercise the most basic level of due diligence before deprodding - something that I, and I'm sure Josh and Joseph also, do before slapping the template on there in the first place. Likewise, it would be equally great if you could offer an explanation for the removal that's not nonexistent or patently absurd. Not because the letter of the policy specifically demands you do that, but because not doing so risks antagonizing people and simply wasting everyone's time. Hey @Ortizesp, you are correct based on the text you cited from WP:PROD. You're absolutely within your right to do so, but leaving an edit summary saves everybody involved some time and wondering. I'd rather see the pages get AFD where at least there's a proper BEFORE check and due diligence to see if the pages should be kept or not – Is this your opinion on PROD tags in general, or just with the articles where you removed the tag? In the future it'd be helpful if you put that exact quoted text, or even something as short as "I think this should be look at at AfD instead". Dear Ortizesp, hope you are doing fine. Well, maybe you are partly right: "Damián García" is quite a common name. But (an important "but"): Damián García Graña is a Uruguayan footballer, born in 2003, player of Peñarol; white the plain Damián García happens to be es:Damián García, also known as Damián Sáez Díaz, a Chilean footballer born in 2001, player of Deportes Temuco. Hey mate, on the English Wikipedia we have to use the WP:COMMONNAME for the footballers, not their legal names. The convention is listed at WP:NCSP, so the footballer Damián García Graña would be disambiguated to something like Damián García (footballer, born 2003). Do you know what is the COMMONNAME for the footballer "Damián Sáez Díaz"? And do we know why his name changed?

You pointed me to WP:COMMONNAME, but that is not a rationale for disambiguation to "environmental scholar"; rather we go by article title criteria. The disambiguation guideline says "natural disambiguation that is unambiguous, commonly used, and clear is generally preferable to parenthetical disambiguation." • Every reference and external link on the page lists him as just "Erin Higgs", omitting his middle name or middle initial. NATURAL only applies to names that the subject actually uses, AFAIK.   • I would never determine a common name based on the references used in an article. Editors are very selective when it comes to writing articles and often miss out on the larger literature. As you can see from his Google Scholar profile, Higgs uses his middle initial in the majority (but not all) of his published work.[4] I don't see anything controversial favoring a middle name over parenthetical dismabiguation; as far as I can tell, it is best practice on Wikipedia. Unsourced descent categories

I'm reluctant to give a templated warning to an editor of your experience, but I'd expect you to be aware of the requirement under the WP:BLP policy to provide a reliable source for any category, including descent categories, applied to a living person. Please see WP:BLPCAT, which says the case for each content category must be made clear by the article text and its verifiable reliable sources. I removed the descent category at Romelle Donovan the first time because your original source, playmakerstats (also known as zerozero and soccerzz, among other names), is considered unreliable for the same reason as Transfermarkt, because of its user-generated content. I have an honest question: I know for an absolute fact he's of Kittitian descent. Is there no space for unsourced categories (or that exist with bad sources)? No, there really isn't. The policy means what it says: All quotations and any material challenged or likely to be challenged must be supported by an inline citation to a reliable, published source. Contentious material about living persons (or, in some cases, recently deceased) that is unsourced or poorly sourced—whether the material is negative, positive, neutral, or just questionable—must be removed immediately and without waiting for discussion. (italics mine, bolding original) "The sun is yellow" is uncontentious; a 16-year-old person having ancestors from a particular country is certainly questionable.

Any personal information about a BLP that hasn't been divulged to and published by reliable sources doesn't belong on this site. That's actually quite basic to how the site works. Check out the five pillars of Wikipedia, the one about Wikipedia is written from a neutral point of view, which says All articles must strive for verifiable accuracy, citing reliable, authoritative sources, especially when the topic is controversial or is about a living person. SECOND time you move the page wrongly, as i explained when i moved it both "Costa" and "Pereira" are surnames, "Alberto" his first name. We have two very good English examples to illustrate this: it would be like naming Shaun Wright-Phillips just "Wright-Phillips", or Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain just "Oxlade-Chamberlain".
