License tagging for Image:Mississippi Aerial River Transit.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Mississippi Aerial River Transit.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:LYNX logo.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:17, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 22:41, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for responding and for your well wishes! Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 04:04, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

I'd be happy to give you some pointers on how to prepare this article. Please allow me a few days (I hope to sort it before the weekend since I'm away, but you never know....) for comments. Cheers! The Rambling Man 20:21, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

Okay, some things to consider (most of which would inevitably be brought up at a GA review...!)
*The logo needs a fair use rationale to be added.
*In the infobox, I'd use "Light rail" rather than "light rail" and "Under construction" rather than "under construction", similar capitalisation in the Technical section of the infobox.
*Place citations according to WP:CITE, that is immediately following punctuation.
*I'm not keen on bullet lists where prose could (could) be used.
*Consistent use of the {{convert}} template throughout is a good idea (for units) - in the lead you have conversions from imperial to metric but in the main body you have, for example "77-mile" with no conversion.
*"Wednesday, February 22, 2006" - no need for the day, and where a complete date exists, wikilink it, so just "February 22, 2006" will do.
*Lots of short paragraphs, consider merging them to improve the flow and prose a bit.
*Do not put external links in-line as you have with the one in the first para of the Blue line section. Make it a proper reference, preferably with the {{Cite web}} template. Same with the pdf you link to further on.
  • You only map and wikilink the stations for the Blue line. Is this because none of the other stations or maps for the lines exist?
*Check your use of the accessdate tag in the {{Cite web}} template - you've got a bunch of red links. Use the YYYY-MM-DD format.
*Avoid plain URLs in the references, very ugly, keep with the Cite web approach.

Hope this lot helps. Please feel free to contact me for further advice. All the best, The Rambling Man 07:42, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

Roanoke Regional Airport

I have assessed Roanoke Regional Airport and upgraded the rating to B-class. However I can see you have put alot of work into this article, and it is near GA-class. I would recommend you fix some red links in your article and re-arrange the sections and the article looks like a GA. I would reccommend that you arrange your article similar to Chicago Midway International Airport, which is currently a GA. Good Luck, if you need any help just ask. Re: CrimsonRide

I was happy to do it, I am trying to work on as much of the University Wiki articles as possible, including adding a lot more pictures. If it makes you feel any better it is still kind of a pain to get from ten Hoor to Bryant Museum, until a few weeks ago I had to park at the football building and just about all my classes (I'm a PoliSci major) are in ten Hoor and it still takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get over there by bus. But now I have a parking spot right behind ten Hoor so it isn't a problem anymore. It is a pretty good system though. Especially for fans on game days and others visiting the University who do not know their way around. Rtr10 (talk) 01:12, 11 March 2008 (UTC)

News

Cape Lookout Lighthouse

Hello WikiProject North Carolina members! A few of us at the The Newsroom Team decided to get together and re-energize the project, through these newsletters. This newsletter is hopefully the first of many to come. We want this project to be active in creating and expanding articles related to our state. If you're a current or former resident of the state, we hope that you will help spread the knowledge of how much there is to learn about North Carolina.

  • A great way to expand new articles is by keeping track of the new articles list. Please add any new NC-related articles or older ones you come across that have not been tagged with the project banner. When you notice an article has been added to the list, read over it and check for citations, grammatical errors, and spelling. If you've written a NC-related article in the past 5 days, read the requirements for Did you know... and add your article to the DYK nomination list. It might be chosen for the Main Page!
  • If you see a new member added to the project list, a great idea would be to leave them a welcome message on their talk page. Show them we notice new members and that we want them to become active participants.
  • If you have any questions in regards to the project, feel free to contact someone from The Newsroom Team. Thanks for all of your hard work and happy editing!

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mississippi Aerial River Transit.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Mississippi Aerial River Transit.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 08:09, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

NHL by state template

Hi. I see you're adding {{NHLbyState}} to one or more articles. I don't know if i would particularly like it even if it were accurate, but it's a bad list. Perhaps List of NHLs by state has better links to the correct NHL lists that cover NHLs in commonwealths, territories, associated states, foreign states.

I am tempted to blank out the NHLbyState template, rather than fix it myself, sorry that is just how i feel right now. Cheers, doncram (talk) 02:04, 13 June 2008 (UTC)

I noticed your DYK nomination and visited the article. Made small edits there, and created new NRHP stubs for Roanoke Downtown Historic District and the city market district red-links. Hope this helps support your main article. doncram (talk) 01:55, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
