Hello, thanks for voting! You suggested that the article be kept for notability. So what is it that you would care to keep: the article about the book or the list of worst movies in itself? If the former - then such an article about the book should not be a mere list of the "worst" movies, I believe. Data Recognition
I hope this is the way to reply to your msg of yesterday (Forgive me if I'm doing it the wrong way - I'm a newbie).
I responded yesterday:
Data recognition and optical character recognition are slightly different. OCR normally refers to recognition of specific fonts (OCR-A, OCR-B etc) designed to make recognition as easy and accurate as possible. Over the past few years, development of data recognition software has advanced to the stage where there are viable applications that read almost any font including handwriting, and extract data with a very degree of accuracy. Hence, I have no problem with data recognition being grouped with optical character recognition, as long as the differences are explained. I suspect it might be slightly better to have them as separate articles, linked by cross-reference perhaps. --Kywong73 06:52, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

You voted on the above. Your comments suggest that you may not have compared the article Historical Jesus to the article New Testament view on Jesus' life. The Historical Jesus article explicitely states in it's opening paragraph that it "presents a critical reconstruction of the Historical Jesus, as based on the four canonical gospels", and therefore I would suggest that it constitutes a POV fork of New Testament view on Jesus' life. Hi there! I am writing a short essay on the present CSD proposal and the reactions to it, because I think it shows some interesting thoughts that preside in the WikiCommunity, and such an essay may be an interesting article for the Signpost, or a useful read for anyone who wishes to propose anything in the future. Anyway I wanted to ask you about your comment, "This is not the right forum to turn WP:MUSIC into policy". Could you please explain a bit what you mean? We have in the past created policy out of some other guidelines, e.g. the 3RR policy which used to be a guideline. Or did you mean that doing such would require another kind of forum or proposal or procedure? I can certainly understand (and sometimes agree with) people opposing an idea because of improper procedure, but if that is the case I would like to write that into the essay so that better procedures will be used in the future. - It is true that some of them don't strictly fall under the definitions for CSD's but I was using the "common sense criterium". The full content of the three you quoted were:

This article was basically just POV comments which do not belong in Wikipedia. - The content of the David Edwards (Who Wants to be a Millionaire winner) article was:David Edwards is the 2nd Million Pounds in the UK. While the subject may or may not be notable, the content was a CSD as #1, nonsense. (you could see the complete content in the deletion log in this case.)
- I agree that most of these articles would probably have failed a VfD. But a few of them (particularly Hey Now, Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery and David Edwards) could well have survived a VfD and been significantly improved during the process.
- I guess that under the new WP:CSD policies many more articles now meet the CSD.

- It is the dilemma about whether a really crap article about a worthy subject should be delete or improved. Of course they would survive VFD if they were improved in the process, but the question is whether they are worth the efford. I am not decided, but tend to delete them if they have been nominated and are bad enough. for example Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery, which I didn't mention above, was for one thing written all in upper case... - It's a generic category that currently exists which will allow researches of each province a one-stop list that has everyone in it who has been a part of and influenced their history. As you say, those other lists are indirect, subsequently an individuals attachment to a particular province is inferred. HJKeats 10:12, July 30, 2005 (UTC)
- Thank you for helping me through categories and sub-categories. I understand the requirement to avoid too many category entries. Why do we have a category such as Category:People from Newfoundland and Labrador if not to place individuals in it? It would seem that all politicians cannot appear in the people from xxx category due to a sub-category that places them there. It would seem that the rule is applied spearingly as we have a number of others that appear in the People from xxx; William Lyon Mackenzie King, John Diefenbaker, Joe Clark, Adams George Archibald, just to name a few. I have been as busy as a beaver placing individuals in the People from xxx category that may have to be revisited and changed. From my perspective I found placing individuals in it quite helpful as it gave me a complete snapshot of all who were born, influenced and charted the course of history of NL.
Bad faith nomination?
How was my nomination of the Greek politician article in bad faith? I made the mistake of not checking the history so I did not realize that the current version was not the original but if you look at the version I nominated I think you will find that it is clearly not up to Wiki standards and thus was reverted by another user. Also if you actually took the time to look at my "vandalization" of the article you will see that I vandalized it to suggest its VfD'ing or fixing in a joking manner, not exactly your typical vandal material. Re: speedy deletion of Ad/Vanity articles
The articles I marked for speedy deletion were all added in a close time period by the same user, who also wrote a self-biographical wikipedia article (this one I added to VfD as recommended by the policy -- K.Grafstein). According to Wikipedia:Deletion_of_vanity_articles, vanity articles which are certain to be non-notable (as was the case - the user was adding the small businesses of his own as articles) may be tagged for speedy deletion. Next time I will use VfD instead, but maybe the policy could be clearer on Ads of non-notable companies (as opposed to people) ?. Regards, Fbergo 00:38, 7 August 2005 (UTC)
I investigated this one closely because I suspected it wasn't being taken as seriously as it should be. I've found that this was a reported incident; the Boeing from London to New York lost pressure twice on passing through 20,000 feet, and returned to London, where it was found that the front cargo door has 1-1/2 inch open, the latch cams loose but the master handle closed, and the cargo warning light unlit. It's been referred to in other, more serious investigations. Regarding the Jessica Stover page, I wish you would stop publically displaying my IP address. I keep removing it for privacy reasons.
I started the page thinking that it does deserve to be there and still feel that, but then I emailed Jessica Stover and she said that she didn't really care to have a page in Wiki and that you'd probably delete it anyway because the show archives on AOL had recently been taken down and people don't seem to understand the scope of the show if they were not on aol and did not see it.
Since she has a lot of projects going on I think she feels in due time it will be added. Anyway, so that is why I posted the anon comment. I thought anon was anon, ie you would not post my IP for everyone to see.

re: afd
my suggestion is due to add {{subst:afd}} as normal but then re-edit the page to change the link to the afd to point to something like wikipedia:articles for deletion/articlename 2, you'd also have to make sure that all other links to the afd point to your link to the new afd page not the old one but make sure all the proper links for the article point to articlename. It seems too dark now - the shirt is a solid mass of black, and indistinct from the shadow, so it seems to be a tunic, the shadows on the faces are similarly obscuring, his hair is barely visible, he seems to have black hair rather than brown. I think you've just uncovered a 5 year old hoax in Mr Smith, the world's greatest athlete! I wonder how many times anyone's relied on that article in those 5 years? Re deletion of David Huw Thomas article. I dont see how he's more obscure than say Malcolm Hardee. Who did hardly any TV work except some bit parts in the Comic Strip. The difference is that John Flemming promotes the dead Hardee full time - without the commercial promotion of his memory I doubt he would still be remembered. Thomas also did some writing for Alexei Sayle. There are many many more obscure people who have pages on here simply because their agents put them there? Also there is something to be said for promoting a club that started in the early 80s and is still running successfully 30 years later. Perhaps not that notable but where exactly do you draw the line...?

What made me worried is that the user was writing about Terri-Jean Bedford in 3rd person, while her website is in 1st person. WP:U advises to exercise caution in instances like this; I didn't make the block (I can't, I'm not an admin), merely reported it to bring it to an admin's attention. I was the original poster of the article at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nella_Cotrupi
I can see that it would be helpful to add more inline citations, but I don't understand the reason for your adding the notice saying that the article might not meet the general notability guideline. From third party references in the article, and if you Google "Nella Cotrupi", you will see that she is a published author, cited in other authors' publications, a keynote speaker at literary conferences, and a candidate for public office, among other things. Does this not meet the general notability guideline?
I'm a relatively inexperienced Wikipedia editor, so perhaps I've misunderstood something. If you could please help me to better understand the reasoning for your concerns, it would be much appreciated.

Hi. I've been working on sorting out the Dr.K C Joseph page, after having it brought back from deletion. Unless I have my facts entirely wrong, Dr.K C Joseph is a different Kerala politician than K. C. Joseph. Completely confusing I know. I haven't yet got around to it but I have plans to make "K. C. Joseph" a disambiguation page and then move the others to more descriptive titles. Unfortunately I was sidetracked by the article K.C. Joseph (I was planning on moving this item too and disambiguating it at a K. C. Joseph dab, but it ending up being a copyvio from 2008). - I think you're right. In fact, I think it was actually Irv Hayden that coined that expression. The sources are contradictory. However, I found a google link to one of my own archive pages (which is fairly scary), from a few years back, in which the subject came up. (I knew I had seen it somewhere). Baldy and Hayden both died in helicopter crashes. Hopefully they make choppers to be safer nowadays. Anyway, I added it back again, and then took it out again. Argh! Okay, so I have a colleague who occasionally sends me updates for Wikipedia (he hates doing it himself, had a bad experience as an IP etc.) and he sent me Gorman along with a few others. Usually I can find the sources to back up the material he sends, but last night I was in a hurry and couldn't find anything immediately, so I updated it based on his entry in the Ohio Death Index (occupation is judge, born and died in Cuyahoga, Ohio etc.) thinking I'd just include a better source today. After searching, however, I can't find a source to confirm either date, so I'll have to ask him what source he used for the information. In the meantime, of course, the material can be removed, since as convincing as that Ohio Death Index entry is, verifiability before truth etc. Canadian Paul 14:17, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

I could not agree more. While certainly WP:NFF serves the purpose of keeping article on film topics being written prematurely, the crux of the issue is that sometimes a film topic has so much coverage persistant and enduring coverage that sometimes the rare exception is allowed. This is one of those times. In my 18:40, 5 July 2012 (UTC) response to Rob Sinden, I stated "tell ya what... I'll see if I can cobble something together and get back to this dicsussion." The result is something being worked and viewable in my sandbox HERE. In looking for sources toward the novel, I found notability enough for it to have a separate article, certainly... but my research also shows the film topic as having far more and persistant coverage.
