Concerning Heraclius[edit]

You are correct in pointing out that the title basileus became increasingly common under Heraclius, but the claim that he outright replaced Imperator, Caesar and Augustus with Basileus is not. A notable example is Leo VI the Wise, who, in his own Basiliska (A collection of Byzantine law that he authored), introduces himself explicitly as "Autokrator Kaisar Phlábios Léōn Augoustos" (Imperator Caesar Flavius Leo Augustus). The title "augoustos" remained in use, IIRC, as late as the reign of Manuel I. Michael III and Basil I also had coins issued with the Latin titles "imperator" and "augustus" on them, even if they are the exception instead of the rule.

Even the assumption that Heraclius replaced Latin with Greek entirely is a stretch. Heraclius issued edicts in Greek, but I do not recall him ever issuing a law that explicitly ejected Latin from administration entirely and mandated use of Greek. The Hellenization of the empire certainly did not start with Heraclius; Arcadius had already issued an edict to allow provincial governors to legislate in Greek, and Leo I began doing so at the imperial level, issuing laws in Koine Greek rather than Late Latin. This also ignores the fact that even post-Heraclius, Latin retained administrative use in the exarchates, even if it vanished from the core provinces.

Essentially, while it is correct that Heraclius legislated increasingly in Greek and increasingly used the title basileus, I am very skeptical of the claims that he explicitly and legally abolished administrative use of Latin or ceased use of the old Latin titles entirely. This video summarizes it quite well. LVDP01 (talk) 13:11, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a separate page of House of Lords Reform Act 2014[edit]

Hi I am creating a separate page for Retired and Remove members of the House of Lords, like what the 1999 list is like.

List of peers retired and removed under the House of Lords Reform Act 2014

Yours faithfully

Earl of Sutton Coldfield (talk) 10:06, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What's the point? Richard75 (talk) 13:22, 16 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It looks better as you can see from this prime exanple List of hereditary peers removed under the House of Lords Act 1999 Earl of Sutton Coldfield (talk) 15:32, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Aesthetically speaking, it looks great. What I meant is, the list of members who have retired from the House of Lords since 2014 is open-ended, because more people will keep retiring indefinitely into the future. It's already huge, and will keep getting bigger. We don't keep a list like this for the House of Commons, or for the legislature of any other country. So what do we need it for? (The list of peers removed in 1999 is a one-off event; that list is complete.) Richard75 (talk) 16:13, 18 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I agree, it doesn't seem necessary, aside maybe from the ones removed for non attendance, but that can go on the main article for the act. 2601:249:9301:D570:909A:F52B:67C2:D58 (talk) 22:07, 24 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I have an idea, if you look at List of Desert Island Discs episodes and you see it is a subpage itos done by decade and could we try that with Section 1. Earl of Sutton Coldfield (talk) 06:31, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It now appears that List of peers retired under the House of Lords Reform Act 2014 (2014–2020) and List of peers retired under the House of Lords Reform Act 2014 (2021–present) were created, which I think have pretty the same issue as the already discussed page. 64.107.163.147 (talk) 16:21, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
It will be easier to maintain Earl of Sutton Coldfield (talk) 17:31, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The issue isn’t maintenance, it’s whether it has notability. As he pointed out, no other legislature has lists of those who resigned. 64.107.163.147 (talk) 18:52, 31 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I have an idea if you think it's is good, because if you have one for each decade it may work:

I want to come to a compromise Earl of Sutton Coldfield (talk) 14:35, 25 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
