Blocking

Hi Slambo,

I (Zippokovich) have recently attempted to edit an article (Shotokan) only to be informed that my IP has been blocked. The reason given was that RichardHarrold had been using it. However the computer I use to edit Wikipedia (and do everything) is a personal computer and is used exclusively by me. Furthermore only the users that have ever logged into Wikipedia form my computer are Zippokovich (me) and Whadsisname (my friend). Furthermore the IP address given was 72.14.192.3 however my IP address is 80.177.9.206 and 80.177.9.206 is a UK IP (I’m in Scotland) hosted by “Demon Internet”. 72.14.192.3 is an “EU # Country is really world wide” IP hosted by “The whole IPv4 address space” (according to my IP tools).

James P. Kirkwood

Hi, I added an article on James P. Kirkwood, a railroader. --Marcusscotus1 21:57, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Re: Blocking

Hi again Slambo,

Thanks for the quick reply. I will be interested to see the out-come of the bock inquiary however i will not be able to access the internet untill 9/07/06 and therefore will not be able to reply to any new posts untill then. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zippokovich (talkcontribs) .

Thanks for the "start" rating on Juniata Valley Railroad. Any suggestions on how to improve it / what it needs? (Is there a review that lead to the classification I could look at)? Or is there a better short line article to look at as a model? Thanks, Ruhrfisch 16:27, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the quick and detailed reply - I will do what I can to make it a better article, as well as the seven other Class III short line articles I have started (Lycoming Valley Railroad (LVRR), Nittany and Bald Eagle Railroad (NBER), North Shore Railroad (NSHR),Shamokin Valley Railroad (SVRR), Union County Industrial Railroad (UCIR), Stourbridge Railroad (SBRR), and Wellsboro and Corning Railroad (WCOR). Wikiproject trains -> Minsk Metro

Following this message I was wondering are any of these articles also to undergo the rating and is it too late to list some of them for a DYK/FA on the project? BTW FSU Metro are my speciality my--Kuban Cossack 11:37, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

moscow metro

I see that you have added Moscow Metro to the Railways project. We currently have a dispute going on trying to decide what table to use to list the lines of the metro. If you could vote in the poll at the bottom of talk, that would be awesome. Thanks! lensovet 23:16, 5 July 2006 (UTC)

155th Street (IRT Ninth Avenue Line)

I noticed that you added 155th Street (IRT Ninth Avenue Line) to the Trains wiki project. There are several hundred New York City Subway articles, about 99.9% of which are not in this project. I was wondering if there was some principled reason for selecting 155th Street (IRT Ninth Avenue Line), or if you didn't realize that it's merely one of several hundred articles about the NYC subway. Stub Articles

The Pittsburgh Industrial Railroad, Union Railroad (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania), Pittsburgh and Ohio Central Railroad, and Pittsburgh, Allegheny and McKees Rocks Railroad articles we rated as "stub" (for obvious reasons, and I'm not complaining). I was wondering what more could be added about them, or if you had a good example of a Class III RR article (I can't root through the whole list, don't have the time). Thanks for any comments and suggestions--Jimktrains 15:49, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks--Jimktrains 18:33, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the advice on Final Draft. I am going to work on the entry over the next few weeks. Oh and can you look at this, this really seems to be against Wiki policy but I dont want to overstep my bounds by deleting it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Chadbryant#Note_For_Admins Specifically the link, which leads to a rather vile personal attack against someone who's real name and info is given out. Proposed Merge at Roaring Camp Railroads

The informaton in this article is by-and-large redundant with Roaring Camp and Big Trees Narrow-Gauge Railroad (and Santa Cruz, Big Trees and Pacific Railway to a lesser extent). Suggest that this be turned into a redirect page, FYI.--Lordkinbote 19:17, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks!

Thank you for adding the start article template to the Delaware and Northern Railroad article! --Kschwerdt514 02:11, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

But why is my Ulster and Delaware Railroad article a B-class article? --Kschwerdt514 02:14, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Sorry

Sorry, my mistake. MrHudson 21:18, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

Seattle, Lake Shore, & Eastern

Slambo, I am new to Wiki and have entered some information on the SLS&E, and have much more to add, as it is a pet historical project of mine. The road proposed to run north of where I currently live, and this local area seems to have bits and pieces of historical data about the Lake Shore, which have been fun to find.

I see that the whole Lake Shore page has been cleaned up. It looks nice. I would like to see it move up in its rating but I know not how to do it. Would adding some first person stories of construction help? I have 2 to add. There are a few period pictures online. If I get permission from the owner (I've been in contact with him), could we use them?

In putting Union Station (San Diego) up for the week's selected article on Portal:Trains, I noticed that California Southern Railroad was still a redlink. So, I created an article for it based on a couple refs I had. I've got a bit more to add to it, but there's a start. Slambo (Speak) 13:54, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

Nice work on the CSRR. I have some historical info as well that I'll try to add in the near future. You've seen the article All Aboard! 20th Century American Trains; I was wondering is if "rail-related stamps" is a subject as a whole that merits expansion (there doesn't seem to be much in WP now). As you have a background and interest in philately I figure you'd be a likely candidate to spearhead this effort, if warranted.--Lordkinbote 18:48, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
Updated DYK query On 12 July, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article California Southern Railroad, which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:BNSF railway logo.jpg)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:BNSF railway logo.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. —Bkell (talk) 11:43, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Image was replaced by Image:BNSF.png. The jpg is safe to delete. Slambo (Speak) 12:46, 19 July 2006 (UTC)
Yep. The JPEG has been tagged as being an orphaned fair-use image, which means it will be deleted in a week, so nobody needs to do anything more. I was just letting you know about it, in case you had some good reason to keep the JPEG around. —Bkell (talk) 12:49, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

Tassie and other mania's

Yo! (Texas) G'day (Australian) trust you're keeping well - saw your bit on the cover art for west coast tassie rails - still struggling along :) best wishes from the wild west coast of western australia! I suspect that I copy and pasted some of the boxes with stub stage which probably should have goon unassessed  :) oh well, cheers (London) SatuSuro 13:06, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

December 5 in rail transport

Oops. Sorry, I should be less sloppy. - Keith D. Tyler (AMA) 20:53, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

CPR photo

Slambo, not much I can do about this, the policy winds have changed since it was posted, and the license is linked in the explanatory text. I would be surprised however if the content creator might not agree to its release under GFDL if you contact him directly and ask nicely... Cheers, Fawcett5 18:43, 20 July 2006 (UTC)

Railroad system maps

I've been tinkering around with creating a system map for Great Northern Railway (US). I created a map at Image:GN System Map.jpg, which I created by using DeLorme Topo USA. The only thing I'm concerned about is whether the copyright terms specified by the DeLorme software are appropriate for use on Wikipedia. I listed the terms from the help file in the description of the image. If you get a chance, could you take a look and tell me whether the license terms look appropriate? If so, I can link this map, and probably upload a couple others I've been working on, like DM&IR and DW&P.

I'm not thrilled that the only option is a Mercator projection (or whatever it's using), since other maps on Wikipedia don't seem to assume the world is perfectly rectangular, but that's another nitpick. --Elkman - (Elkspeak) 04:22, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for those link corrections

Looks like I made the same error on each of those pages, and you came along and cleaned up after me on each of them too. Sorry and thanks! --cfp 19:57, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Rail link

Hi Slambo,

The two events I added a few weeks ago in the news section of the Trains Portal were big news, at least in France, so I heard about them just listening to TV. But if you want a good link for rail transport news, see La Vie du Rail (in French, for the moment they're on holiday). benji 09:16, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
