Managing a conflict of interest[edit]

Information icon Hello, Source20. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Citobun (talk) 03:17, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

<nowiki> Tags[edit]

Hi, I was wondering why you put <nowiki> tags in you Userpage. If you remove them it should work. For example:

This user has publicly declared that they have a conflict of interest regarding the Wikipedia article Clearwater Bay Golf & Country Club.

Please[edit]

Please stop adding promotional content to Wikipedia. Per the above notice, you should NOT be editing that page.

Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a vehicle for corporate advertising. Please stop wasting the time of volunteer editors who must contend with an ever-increasing influx of corporate spam. Citobun (talk) 11:26, 12 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Citobun:May I know the reasons of why are other pages such as Hong Kong Golf Club and Hong Kong Jockey Club allowed to add similar information yet that page is prohibited? Hong Kong Golf Club: Charity events; Hong Kong Jockey Club: Charities. Source20 (talk) 07:15, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Source20: there is a lot of stuff on Wikipedia that doesn't belong in an encyclopedia and which does not adhere to Wikipedia policies. Wikipedia is entirely written and created by volunteers. Many pages do not receive enough time and attention. Citobun (talk) 07:33, 31 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Citobun: alright, thanks
