Please deal with an editor you've previously warned counseled

Please deal with Nazim Hussain Pak. This is about enough. He's been nothing but a bottomless time sink for every editor who has encountered him. Obviously NOTHERE. John from Idegon (talk) 01:14, 29 August 2017 (UTC)

Done, an incredible time sink, far too many final warnings. —SpacemanSpiff 03:42, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Thank you so much. I can honestly say I've never encountered a more arrogant individual in my near 6 years here....far more arrogant than some of our infamous arrogant content creators without the resume to deserve even the rhythm he's gotten. John from Idegon (talk) 03:47, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Now the user has resorted to essentially harassment on Commons. I've contacted a few Commons admin, hopefully this can be dealt with soon. Alex ShihTalk 07:45, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
I've got the same message on Commons too, might move to get a steward to look in if he starts this nonsense on another place next. —SpacemanSpiff 11:50, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Hi, I think it is time to revoke his talk page access, please check his recently edited talk page. Thanks 24.250.244.20 (talk) 01:48, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

THat was directed at me, so I'll leave it for someone else to handle. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 02:03, 4 September 2017 (UTC)

edit warning on talk page ??: please help point me to objectionable content

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Raj_the_one#September_2017 I did not edit any article, I updated a talk page with as much neutral opinion as i can make. Let me know, which specific change is not in AGF.

i am certainly not disguising my motives by editing article, which are too lame to be used to disguise, and you probably know what it means. gostanwik 08:57, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
Do you mind adopt me for wikipedia edit as you seems to be more knowledgeable and guide me on the process along the way. gostanwik 09:01, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
I do not do adoptions, you can try at WP:ADOPT. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:50, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

He seems to have a common name, so I guess it's easy to find mentions of it. But a mix of Bhojpuri and Telugu cinema productions is odd at best and anyone dabbling in both productions will have significant coverage. —SpacemanSpiff 14:15, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

Fiction in Wikipedia pages

Hi Spiff, I'm trying to understand what behaviour of mine was inappropriate, I'm not the one posting content that is not established fact and thus contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia? If that section is fact it should be cited as such? I edited that section to include more fact and had those reverted, even though I directly used Wikipedia as a source. Also, I find it tragic you have a policy on South Asian groups but promote content detrimental and insulting to them, and also factually incorrect. That whole section is "this writer believes..." Wikipedia is coming to be accepted as a source but a horse who reads a Wiki entry saying horses are reptiles will no longer trust such a source for research. I thought this was what differentiated Quora and Wikipedia, discussion on theories. The section is also in direct disagreement with most other related Wikipedia entries, looks bad to me as a consumer (and not just editor) because of the inconsistency in facts. Given you have not cited what behaviour of mine was inappropriate it looks like the "community" is helping its own and not fact, never mind that I've been here long enough myself but did not see such blatant lying on a page before (promotion is one thing but to tell a country that even its historic ruling class was in fact an invading race is tantamount to drawing a little too much inspiration to promote your own agenda.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Stonemountainfox (talkcontribs) .

  • The edit summary and content removal here clearly show that it is you who is exhibiting this behavior you complain about. You should be discussing this on article talk pages when you indulge in such large scale content removals.—SpacemanSpiff 01:02, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Reverting vandalism

Many thanks for the action taken in reverting vandalism in such pages as Pandabeswar and Ukhra. Please have one more page on your watch list - Pandabeswar (community development block). Cheers. - Chandan Guha (talk) 12:45, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Done, and please warn these users when you revert this kind of stuff. The only reason I haven't blocked the account is because they weren't warned. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 15:09, 6 September 2017 (UTC)

Help?

User:Shamsul_Islam_Author has, despite warnings about WP:ARBIPA, indulged in edit-warring (reported here), repeatedly added poorly sourced information about living people [1], created an obvious sock [2], added/removed material with obvious political intent [3], [4], [5], and has just made a legal threat [6]. They are also likely to be impersonating Shamsul Islam, a writer in real life (the POVs are diametrically opposite, so unlikely to actually be that person). If you're uninvolved, can you deal with it? Else I'd have to go to ANI, and I'd really rather not. Vanamonde (talk) 06:49, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

  • Going through the history now, give me a little while to sort through. —SpacemanSpiff 06:57, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
  • Done, I think "Internet guru guru" may also be linked to this one and I don't for a minute believe that this is the first account, there's likely a master behind it somewhere, so you may want to check around or take to SPI. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:10, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of the page 'Abhinav Sunder Nayak'

Hello,

Its come to my attention that you have deleted a page created for an Indian film editor Abhinav Sunder Nayak who works predominantly in Tamil & Malayalam films in India. Would like to know the reason behind it.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 182.65.250.29 (talk) 13:05, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

Do you have an answer

Why are you reverting exhaustive (constructive) contributions made by padmalakshmisx ? If you go on banning multiple accounts (with constructive edits) wikipedia will never expand in its content and quality. There are very limited subject matter experts and who spend time and money on internet to fix and update articles with new references on Indian cinema. What do you gain by this ? Standard offer for 6 months is of no use, because it will stop the creative mind. Kindly forward this message to wikipedia arbitration committee if wikipedia policies have some brain. Wikipedia policies have to be updated every year, especially with respect to sockpuppetry or else wikipedia will become a low quality, unprofessional and uninformative platform Cawsbantu (talk) 19:39, 9 September 2017 (UTC)

  • You are the cause of part of the poor quality of articles here. And you've been given a standard offer option many times but you live in your own warped world and have no interest in doing anything constructively or collaboratively, don't come back here again. —SpacemanSpiff 23:15, 9 September 2017 (UTC)
Let's not forget that the user continues to demonstrate general incompetence, which after as many years as they've been editing is simply inexcusable. Like here where this experienced editor still thinks it's appropriate to describe of his own opinion the overall critical response of a film. No regard for MOS:FILM. Ooh, you know what Indian film articles need more of? Hyperbole! How about more "super hit" POV crap? Oh here we go. Please editoralise about the "matinee idol". Continued rubbish. Not to mention they've been editing for six years and still don't know you don't spell out numerals over 10. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:23, 10 September 2017 (UTC)

User: Thetruth16 topic ban

Hi Spaceman Spiff! As per the community enforced topic ban of User:Thetruth16 on articles related to Ferdinand Marcos, could you also topic ban him from:

These are some of the other articles which he skewed towards favoring Marcos and whitewashing his crimes, as well as doing demolition jobs on Marcos's opponents. Thank you! -05:55, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

  • I've included what was in the proposal and discussed, I can't add anything to it -- it's a community sanction. But it looks to me like everything except your last link is included already, and even there the topic ban covers any content related to the others. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 07:08, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Clearing the misunderstanding

Hi,

Season's greeting,

One of the user User:संदेश हिवाळे (English spelling of the name:Sandesh Hiwale)'s User account is blocked here on en:wp. It seems he was mainly blocked for 'constantly adding honorifics', not knowing that he is on encyclopaedia, and being new not aware of the policies, in initial enthusiasm he seems to have got involved in reverts to put those honorifics back. His initials edits were mainly through mobile phone and with initial enthusiasm he did not know importance of talk page messages and either over looked or missed.

Besides during his unblock request, even when he was saying 'sorry' by mistake he seems to have tampered a template placed by another user, and that seems to have angered the user. He has approached me and another local admin on Marathi language wikipedia to inform you of misunderstanding.

He has informed us on our talk page at mr wikipedia that he has understood his mistakes and does not want to repeat them.

Our experince with him on Marathi language wikipedia has been that he is very much a well intentioned user. Even at mr-wikipedia initially he took time to come for discussions on talk pages since he used to edit from mobile phone. But subsequently over a period of time, he started interacting with the local community in constructive manner. And so far all of his communications have been polite enough, and undersigned can vouch for the same.

So even before making any further attempt for unblock request we regret the inconvinience caused before. I am sure in future he can be mentored for constructive edits. Probably what we can do is, for few more months let him write his most of proposed edits on respctive talk pages first and only after if there is no objection on article talk page or after discussing with some mentor let him include those edits in the articles.

His en wp talk page is also marked for Wikipedia:Standard offer It seems his last edits were in april month. We would like to know when again it is appropriatae for him to make an unblock request.

Thanks and warm regards

Mahitgar (talk) 09:29, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

  • He was blocked for being disruptive, and not just once, multiple times (and honorifics was just an example of that, not the entire problem) and then after his indefinite block he went ahead and created at least one sock (that I know of) to continue the same behavior. Honorifics was just part of the problem. Should his unblock be considered I would expect a ban from anything related to Ambedkar and Buddhism across all of en.wiki for at least six months after the unblock, at which point he can appeal that. That said, I don't think the time elapsed is sufficient for the level of disruption he and his sock caused, so I wouldn't recommend an unblock until at least he can show that he understands what he did wrong and how he's going to avoid it in the future as well as an idea of what he's going to edit over the next few months. If he's ready to do that, then he can appeal in November. Also, all this has to come from him, not from you or someone else, although your experience with him may lead you to lend good faith to him, we have to evaluate him directly. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 11:28, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

St Maty's Cathedral

Not sure if this is the edit-warring Syro-Christian pov-pusher operating while logged out or not. It has happened twice in the last few hours. I can do no more there at present. - Sitush (talk) 11:49, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

It is him for sure, I've blocked more than my daily quota of socks in the past 24 hours, so I didn't block just yet, but I will do an indef with the next problem, have left a note on the user talk page. cheers. —SpacemanSpiff 12:03, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
Thanks. I see you left a COI note for the person who has just edited the Raheja article. I've just gone through a few of their other edits and am concerned this might be another instance of someone being paid to promote generally (not just Raheja). I will try to keep an eye on it but can you remember the name of the Indian farm that was doing recruitment for that sort of thing? - Sitush (talk) 12:18, 15 September 2017 (UTC)
THis one is more likely a freelancer working off of elance or something, Bri might be able to give you some more credible pointers. There's tons of India SEO/paid COI whitewashers, so I can't give the name of jsut one farm. Just see the list of accounts I've blocked in the past couple of days and you're likely to find 2-3 groups! —SpacemanSpiff 12:24, 15 September 2017 (UTC)

Anyway, I was going to block them for importing personal feuds to this wiki, but out of respect for you I won't; it would be bad manners for me to deprive you of a conversation partner. Dear SpacemanSpiff I have always tried to do my level best to contribute to this project, but you said at ANI that I write poor quality articles, I take this criticism from you positively and will strive to improve my future creations, I also understood your concern about copyvio but I want to clarify that I mostly try to write in my own words, when lifting direct quotes from the source I always attribute it but from now I will surely write all stuffs in my own words. Best wishes to you and your family for a healthy and prosperous life. Anoptimistix (talk) 03:40, 17 September 2017 (UTC) Anoptimistix (talk) 03:40, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Including quotations in articles is perfectly acceptable, as long as the quotes are brief, clearly indicated as quotes, properly referenced inline, and constitute a limited percentage of the prose, Anoptimistix. When to quote is a matter of editorial judgment. I believe that quotes are appropriate to convey local color, or the enthusiasm (or disdain) that representative reviewers express for a topic. And for other similar limited purposes. Quotes should not be an easy substitute for original prose written by an editor who has read and is accurately summarizing the range of reliable sources. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 04:05, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Cullen328 Thank you dear sir for your guidance and I always try to Faithfully produce original words and attribute it to the news media or the notable person who said it, didn't knew it would become a copyright issue , since now i will write everything in my own words which would be synonymous to the original content by the reliable source, Thanks Anoptimistix (talk) 04:24, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Apology

Dear SpacemanSpiff I request apology because some users at ANI felt I was aggressive in my interaction with you, I was just defending myself. You said at ANI that I had removed maintenance tags at a song article, which I think many days back and have deep regret for it. Back then I was still understanding Wikipedia's system but was doing my level best to contribute. But you told that I was canvassing against user Umair Aj, I had a valid reason for it, please see the last and clear warning with evidences given by Admin Swarm to them [7] , but as they are now unblocked they again rewrote the word "greatest" and removed the maintenance tag "fansite" on Ahmed Rushdi's article please see diff [8]. And yup this is another unverified puffery by that user after getting unblocked see this on Sonu Nigam's article [9] , deliberately cited a reliable source (Times of India) which never supported the statement, the same disruptive editing and decieving concerns were expressed about the user by prolific admin Swarm. Is this appropriate as the user is aware of peacock guide and is here for 6 years, clearly knows what is encyclopedic and what is not ! Cullen328 sir please read the source cited by that user, [10], the source never supported the statement, but the user deliberately used it for verification purpose. Is it appropriate ? Anoptimistix (talk) 03:29, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

I do not understand why Anomtimistix is stalking me for the last many months. It all started when I put a maintenance template on Arjit Singh and being a fan he felt offended. He is doing all this because I placed the tags and Begoon has also put a couple of. He never rests when it comes for adding promotional material on Arjit Singh. I added a reliable source to Sonu Nigam's lead but if he has trouble with this, he can remove the citation. I just want he should not bother me and I really mean it but despite of my all the avoidance, he is coming after me again and again.-Umair Aj (talk) 09:55, 17 September 2017 (UTC)

Bisht

Since you've had experience in dealing with castecruft, can you please take a look at User:Up-16's edits at Bisht.

Up-16 insists on removing sourced content, arguing that the Bishts of Nepal are not "real Bishts", and therefore any mention of Nepal should be removed from the page. The user has made same edit twice[11][12] after receiving a final warning by User:Arjayay.

I have tried to engage Up-16 on the talk page (Talk:Bisht#Up-16 edits), although the user hasn't replied to the thread in nearly one month. So I might be involved here. utcursch | talk 18:37, 24 September 2017 (UTC)
