Bodacious edit revert[edit]

Hey WAM,

I was glad to see you revert that edit on Bodacious. I have been trying to coax that user to use sources for about a month or longer now. They have been around for over a year and have over 400 edits. They are no newbie. They refuse to use talk pages, not even once have they used one. I have been really nice and have fixed their edits and found sources for them. And it looked like they were starting to find their own sources finally. And then boom today, they delete a source after moving content around. And if the revert comes from someone besides me, that's good. It shows them it's not just me being the one to show them they have to be serious about following the source policy. So I'm glad you stepped in before I could figure how much longer I had to keep being nice...LOL! dawnleelynn(talk) 00:39, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, I think they are a Wikipedia:CIR case or something. You can explain, but if they don't listen and keep making the same mistake over and over, it's time to revert. Generally speaking, most people who make mistakes by accident are willing to improve or change their editing if somebody points the problem out to them, but some people are hardheaded and don't listen...and if they're the no talk page reply type, it's hard to tell what's going on. White Arabian Filly Neigh 23:37, 10 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That's an important distinction made in that article. And I really am glad you put a link to it here. I believe I had read it once, very early on, but I needed to read it again. You can only do so much to help another editor, either they are going to be able to function productively or not. Be nice, assume good faith, and try to help them. But, at some point, it may become evident that they are not going to be able to do it. And that is okay too. It's not my fault. If I can say I did all I can, then that's I shouldn't feel bad. Thanks for that. You're always with the right thing to say, I'm glad I have had my first five months with you and montanabw as examples. Thanks! :) dawnleelynn(talk) 02:32, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Revert[edit]

Hi, Just undid the last close at ANI as it looks like a typo closed down the remainder of ANI after the section in question, want to close the one you were after again? Amortias (T)(C) 21:30, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Amortias, your revert was fine. I was trying to do a non-admin close on that one section per the last comment and screwed up somehow. I was going to revert myself but you beat me to it. I can close the section or let somebody else do it. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:34, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Your welcome to close it, didn't want someone going all gun-ho and complaining someone was screwing with ANI when they went. Amortias (T)(C) 21:43, 16 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GA[edit]

Can you do the review for the Green Bay Harbor Entrance Light page? :) Also, can you say what subtopic Kelly Williams might be in for GA, and that, if it meets the criteria? Adityavagarwal (talk) 15:54, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Adityavagarwal, I can do the full review for the harbor light sometime this week. I'll plan on starting tomorrow, hopefully, but may start today if all goes well. I'm not 100% sure what subtopic Williams would be in, maybe sports if they have that. I'll look at the list of possible categories and reply with more detail later. I'm not sure if I'll have time to do a review on that article too, but will wait to decide until after the first one is complete. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:12, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, you can take your time. Just take your own time. It is so cool. :D Also, maybe it labelled the topic to be Miscellaneous by default. I left it unlabelled. As somebody said in the question i asked, it should be in Sports and recreation. I thought there had to be a biographies or some such topic, if not the biographies topic were not eligible to be GA. :P Adityavagarwal (talk) 12:58, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi![edit]

How are you? Also, thank you for your nice reviews and allowing a chance to improve them and all. How is taxonomy article? Is it fine for GA?Adityavagarwal (talk) 15:37, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. I'm doing fine. I'll take a look at taxonomy next chance I get and check it here or on its talk page. You're welcome for the reviews. They are supposed to last a week or less, but in some cases they can be put on hold. If the reviewer thinks the article has a few problems but is close to being good, they can put it on hold for a week and let the nominator have a chance to fix it. In this case it wasn't necessary because the issue was minor and took only a little while to fix, but that can happen. It's not a big deal. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:30, 5 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also, can you give any tips on GA, or anything for that matter? :D Adityavagarwal (talk) 14:58, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Did you mean Taxonomy (general)? It looks good to me except the history section needs at least one more reference and maybe two or three more if possible. A couple of other paragraphs could use citations as well, but the writing is good and the rest of it looks fine. GA, as you've probably seen, is a rewarding experience to go through, but keep in mind that disambiguation pages and lists can't become GA because they're not actually articles. They were talking about making Good List qualification a while back, but I lost track of the discussion and don't know if that was ever put in place. You can get a list to Featured status (Featured Article is a step above GA and harder; you have to have multiple reviewers and the review itself can last a month) though. Another note about GA is that you can conominate if another person has been working on the article. That means you both watch the review and work together to fix anything the reviewer finds wrong. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:33, 6 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
No!! Taxonom(biology) I apologize big time. You must have wasted time. :( It was the other one, which I nominated for GA. Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:04, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Weell, don't worry about me wasting time, because that one is short and I can read very fast. 😃 I took a look at the correct one and ny comments are about the same, actually. A couple of sections totally lack sources and some paragraphs are also unsourced, though not many. The rest of the article is in good shape and I don't think those will take long to fix. In a couple of cases you can probably use a reference multiple places by naming it. If you've never done that, you do it by editing the reference and inserting name=Xxx immediately after the word "ref" in the beginning tag. Then to use the same reference, insert <ref name=Whatever/> wherever you need it. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:07, 7 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I think those issues are fixed. Can you check again? Also, can you review the article? :P If there are references at the end of a small paragraph, then they contain the detail of the complete paragraph in the article. I, however, do not know if this would be fine. If there are any further improvements, let me know. Also, review the article. :D Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:45, 8 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I can start the review sometime this week and I'll check it again when I do. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:53, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, sure thing. Also, thank you very much. :D Adityavagarwal (talk) 14:51, 10 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

GA[edit]

Can you review Kelly Williams too? :P Adityavagarwal (talk) 22:15, 26 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I'll try to start the review within the next couple of days. It's been coming thunderstorms where I live, which is making it hard to get online. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:32, 27 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
:D, also, thunderstorms? Is it like regular or something? Adityavagarwal (talk) 14:07, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it generally comes a storm every few days here in spring. (That's when it's not coming tornadoes; where I live there was a really bad outbreak April 27, 2011. Over 200 tornadoes in the state during one day.) White Arabian Filly Neigh 15:47, 29 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That is a lot, 200 tornadoes seems really a lot. Safety must be taken in that case too. It is not less probable for somebody to get caught in one, i guess. Adityavagarwal (talk) 13:05, 30 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if any are fillies, (Ludjina might be, not sure how old she is) but at least they are white! I took hundreds of photos; if I find something else, I’ll upload! Montanabw(talk) 05:11, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Whoo, really nice horses! I really like the halter and working cow horse, they both have such cute heads. And the tail on the costume horse. My own horse gets a little curl at the end of his tail if I let it grow to ground length or longer like that (normally I cut it off about fetlock level). By the way, did you know John R. Erickson (Hank the Cowdog author!) has Arabians on his ranch that he uses for cow work? I have a Western Horseman with a profile of him and in the picture he's on a white mare. He said he started using them by accident, then kept on because they have harder feet than Quarter Horses and where he is in the Texas Panhandle it's rocky. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:03, 9 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
That's awesome. The tails they basically keep braided up all the time except in the ring; back in the day, once showed a mare (National Show Horse) for a lady and that mare's tail was almost that long -- took about a year to get it there, washed, dried, braided, rolled into a sock and wrapped. We had to train her to not step on it when she backed up! It was a total booger to get clean if we didn't keep it up, too -- when her show career first began and we started growing out the tail it was awful to get it white the first time ... we'd shampoo, then tried all sorts of stuff from vinegar to lemon to hair bleach to dish soap, eventually settling on bluing (like for old ladies' hair). Now days, we are lucky, we have Quic Silver, that has bluing and all kinds of other good mojo to bleach out manure stains and brighten up the white, but if you leave it on too long it can stain the coat purple! I have some for my palomino's tail, and use it only on the tail for urine and poop stains... Montanabw(talk) 03:50, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Incidentally, I looked up horse #705 at Scottsdale, and I do believe that IS a mare ---BESSOLINA EL MARWAN; here is a video of her when she was younger: [1] (That dark shadow... I thought hid something, LOL ...). Montanabw(talk) 04:04, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The old guy who taught me how to ride once braided my horse's tail. He squinched his eyes shut, laid his ears back and started lashing his tail back and forth like crazy until he undid the braid. That was the last time that ever happened. I read once that the Saddlebred Imperator had a 14-foot tail. Actually, that was my DYK hook for that one and it got over 5000 views and is in the Hall of Fame. White Arabian Filly Neigh 20:45, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Comment[edit]

Hi WAF!

Hope all is well with you and your little farm. :) I understand from montanabw that you have done many list articles. I want to do my first one. I just want to ask your advice; I don't need you to do any work. Just look at it and guide a bit is all. Shouldn't take you much time at all. It's the ProRodeo Hall of Fame that is the article in question. I am going to take the inductees out of that article. It's highly incomplete anyway. I'll beef up the content naturally instead. I'll get the inductees from the web site which is here: http://www.prorodeohalloffame.com/. I don't plan to use descriptions in the list like someone has typed up in the article. I'll use links to WP articles and put citations in to their web site articles. There are supposed to be around 256 people inducted with a few more inducted this year and I would say under 20 livestock. So, it might need more than one page? Can see how it goes.

You can list the inductees alphabetically or by category. That's the first thing to determine. I'm leaning toward category though. So if we went to Midnight's entry, it would be:

http://www.prorodeohalloffame.com/inductees/by-category/livestock/midnight/

and we would want to list: Livestock > Midnight • Saddle bronc • Inducted 1979

If it was a table, the heading would be Livestock, with three columns. Or just one bulleted heading saying Livestock with tabbed text below in each line? Or even better idea I didn't think of? Or pointing me to an existing list that would work and I could just follow the example would be great too.

Whatever we decided, that would take care of all of the regular inductions.

Then there is a special category of Legends of ProRodeo

http://www.prorodeohalloffame.com/inductees/legends-of-prorodeo/

This one is easy. It's all one one page with the name and year listed. Nothing to it.

Oops, I forgot the Pioneer Award, also just a name and date, 3 so far, so easy too.

http://www.prorodeohalloffame.com/inductees/pioneer-award/

Your consideration would be highly valued. dawnleelynn(talk) 03:29, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. This is an interesting one. I'll just try to list my comments in the order I'm coming up with them and see how it goes. Seems like you could either make two lists on the same page or two completely separate lists on two pages, one titled "Animal inductees into ProRodeo Hall of Fame" and the other "Human inductees into"... For the animals, looks like it'd be easier to use a table, with the following headers (more/others optional) "Name, Species, breed, discipline, year inducted." The humans could be done the same way, with the parameters changed of course. To me it wouldn't matter too much whether they are all on the same page or separate, but I'd use two different sections for people and animals if they were on the same list. I'd list them in chronological order of induction rather than alphabetically. I agree with removing the whole list from the main article, but I think you could leave info about a few of the most notable ones. See Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration#Notable winners where I didn't want to list every World Grand Champion because of length and boiled it down to the best of the best. For list ideas and tsble formatting, you can see List of World Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horses which is probably the closest thing I've done to what you want. Hope that helps, feel free to ask again if I didn't explain everything right. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:36, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I just finished a long editing spurt and was getting ready to take a break when I saw your message. Looks like great stuff. I will mull it over while I am doing other things. Thanks a bunch! dawnleelynn(talk) 21:47, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your Walking Horse article was extremely helpful as was your other advice. Here's a rough draft markup with a few entries in it to give an idea. Let me know what you think of this before I get started seriously adding entries in. I used sortable columns on some columns. However, I am not sure how helpful the sortable name column would be because it would sort on first names. Here's the link to the article in my Userspace: User:Dawnleelynn/List of ProRodeo Hall of Fame inductees Take a look of your convenience. I have plenty of items on my to do list. Thanks again.
It looks good to me. I couldn't see the sortable thing on mobile view, I'll have to switch to desktop to see how effective it is. The only thing I'd change is put the name to the left so readers will be sure what they're looking at if they have a small screen. White Arabian Filly Neigh 21:39, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, I'm around too. I guess I was thrown off by the year being the first column in your Walking Horse article which I copied for a shell. My bad, not yours. I'll move the name. The sorting feature is just this tiny set of smooshed arrows to the right of the column name. Funny, I don't consider the mobile user very much. I really should as that's the way everything is headed. I noticed you reviewed the page, will it stay reviewed once I move it into mainspace? That would be cool. I also had to swap the breed and species for Bodacious too, whoops. I'm glad it works well overall, though. Whew! I'll probably add a bit more text at the top. And a citation. It will be a bit of work to get all the content in the tables. And a bit of work to beef up the HoF article. But there's no rush, that's what I like about WP, just have fun and do it in your time frame. Thanks for your help; a few minutes from you but it made a big difference. dawnleelynn(talk) 21:57, 14 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again, WAF and calling Montanabw (talk · contribs) I noticed you did quick ce last night on this article draft. Hmm, syntax highlighting just bonked out on me again. It's not my computer. Anyway, I was going to ask you to look it over after I got all the bits in. I just added more text at the top. And then I added text about the Legends of ProRodeo and added those names in a bulleted list because that's all they are is a year and a name. And then I added the three Pioneer Awards also a bulleted list of 3 names and the year. If you want to take another swipe, please do so. Also, WAF too, I have moved the Name column. And I have in enough text filled in rows that there are no longer any empty rows that are shrunken. So if you also want to take a look, that's great. Just want to get it right before I go typing in over 250 inductees. I also added more citations and some external links. Thanks! dawnleelynn(talk) 17:55, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
It looks good to me. Yeah, it should be patrolled for good now, even after being moved it won't need it again. I agree with doing it in your userspace. That's how I wrote the TWH list, and it took a long time. I made some mistakes on the formatting too and had to figure out how to fix them. White Arabian Filly Neigh 20:51, 16 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
