Tennis profiles[edit]

It's not "crystal balling", all the information is taken from the live-tennis.eu website, a site updated daily with live rankings. It's also an official source for both the ATP World Tour Finals and the WTA Finals. So there is no predictions or guesswork. And now you just caused extra work because the ATP is too damn stupid to have heard of live updates and live-tennis is doing all the hard work for them. No surprise considering how horrid the ATP's writing staff is with multiple errors and typos every single week.

List of the busiest airports in Europe[edit]

As agreed from the beginning, European airports are defined as those that are within the airspace of the member and candidate states of The Council of Europe. (See discussion). Therefore, please don't delete any Canarian, Cypriot and Russian airports. Thank you.

Changes to ATP seasons pages[edit]

On what basis do you think that by enlarging the text it is better readable? - This results in a larger table size, which makes it more difficult to find information, withdrawing the bold of the winners of given tournaments makes it difficult to find them in the large table content. It was not conditioned through talk tage to make changes. Also, it makes a given ATP season not inconsistent with articles on Challengers or WTA tournaments, among others. Therefore, until the situation is clarified, I propose reverting to the previous versions. Otherwise it will be reported as WP:VANDALISM. Gro456 (talk) 23:01 27 May 2021 (UTC)

newspage vs. image on newspapers.com citations[edit]

Newspage provides a freely available text source for newspapers.com articles, image does not. Tennishistory1877 (talk) 22:48, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Fair point, will consider that and see if there is any guidance on how to cite Newspapers.com. Have always linked directly to the article for usability reasons, however, as this requires a subscription it might indeed be preferable to link to the newspage url instead. The OCR text is often poorly formatted and contains OCR errors but as you point out it is freely accessible without a subscription. Fortunately, as the url is identical apart from the "newspage" versus "image" part it can very easily be changed from one mode to the other.--Wolbo (talk) 23:15, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes the OCR formatting is poor, but it is usually readable. I prefer the text version because it is freely available. It would be nice if newspapers.com made the image version free, though some image pages are free, as they allow articles to be clipped. Tennishistory1877 (talk) 23:26, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Just checking, are you aware that Wikipedia editors can get a free subscription? --Wolbo (talk) 23:33, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes I read that somewhere. But many readers of wikipedia articles do not have a subscription. Tennishistory1877 (talk) 00:05, 11 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IKEA Foundation request[edit]

Hi Wolbo, I'm Altaf with the IKEA Foundation. I saw that you are part of WikiProject Netherlands and was wondering if you might be interested in taking a look at a request I made to add a History section to the IKEA Foundation article. I've got a COI so I can't make that change myself. I'd really appreciate it, and thanks for your time. AMfromIKEA (talk) 08:36, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Women in Green GA Editathon June 2024 - Going Back in Time[edit]

Hello Wolbo:

WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in June 2024!

Running from June 1 to 30, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Going Back in Time! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 20 centuries by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.

We hope to see you there!
