  • Your comments about survival in the woods in the Kim tragedy were good ones. I could not nderstand why, once they had a fire going, they could not keep it going, out in the road where it wouldn't start a general forest fire, with a forest full of pine wood. We have always carried things like candles, matches, hatchet, warm clothes and a supply of food.Edison 22:17, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Edison,thanks for the kind words. I am thinking about modifying the James Kim article to include a brief sentence of two about how the forests around the Kim family actually had fuel in the form of pitchwood, and reference different pages (such as the one on Douglas fir, and on campfires) for building the fires. I would add material to each of those to complete the life history of the Douglas fir, and the page on campfires too, and reference them on the James Kim page. That will be in a few days, as I am studying for a toxicology exam right now.John C. Ratliff 23:47, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
