Samus Aran[edit]

Instead of starting an edit war, let me explain my capitalizations:

  • Aether is capitalized because it is the name of a planet and is thus a proper noun. (Just like Jupiter and Saturn are always capitalized.)
  • Chozo is capitalized because it is the name of a race and is thus a proper noun. Among others, you decapitalized the phrase "a chozo warrior". Would you ever write "a german warrior" or "an english warrior" without capitalizing German or English?

--Pagrashtak 22:00, 27 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that, I thought I was just correcting an oversight when I capitalized. You're right that I wouldn't write "Human warrior" with a capital, but I think this is a quirk of us being the only known species. I believe that Klingon and Romulan and Martian (or for that matter, "Earthling") would be capitalized in this instance, and I think that would extend to Chozo. --Pagrashtak 04:47, 28 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

hi, i saw your edit on Portuguese Man O' War. plz would u be so kind to read the camille huysmans lemma over, as english is not my mothers tongue. tnx in advance. Aleichem 18:30, 22 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks[edit]

Woops! I guess my punctuation correction skills weren't quite as good as I though they were. Thanks! :) Masebrock 17:28, 22 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

its/it's[edit]

Ok, so I'm definitely not a big grammarian (is that a word), but I would've thought that "it's" would be appropriate for showing possession, much the same way I would say Jenny's ball. the apostrophe shows possession. Why should it be different for "it"? Cheers! Murderbike 10:00, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

hah! don't worry about it. it's probably in all my articles. i've always been convinced that it was supposed to be that way. Murderbike 07:31, 22 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hope you can participate!

Its/It's[edit]

Sorry. My bad on the apostrophe and the attitude. Chalk it up to a synapse misfire. B 16:51, 12 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Wow - you caught me in a grammatical error I pride myself on NOT making. Twice! It's a good thing! Stampsations 22:36, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Atlas (rocket family)[edit]

Thanks very much for your correction to the Atlas (rocket family) article! Although the article draws upon content from other articles, the article per se is fairly new. After looking at it do you have any suggestions for improvement? Was it (for you): readable? Informative? Comprehensive? Did the structure seem to make sense? Thanks in advance for any comments you may have! Sdsds 02:02, 26 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please join a deletion review for Still_Pending band[edit]

Hi there. You were kind enough to edit and work with me on the Still_Pending article a few months back. The article was the subject of an AfD and was subsequently deleted. Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Kim Deal Tsongas Arena 2004-12-01 2.png, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Kim Deal Tsongas Arena 2004-12-01 2.png is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Kim Deal Tsongas Arena 2004-12-01 2.png itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 03:19, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Images[edit]

I'm not sure what optimisation you were doing to the image, but it's best to create a commons account and upload a new version of the file over the existing image, then any usage of the image is updated in the articles. --Steve (Stephen) talk 04:22, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Kuribo shoe SMB3x.PNG)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kuribo shoe SMB3x.PNG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:49, 23 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Yoshi2-screenshot.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Yoshi2-screenshot.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:15, 26 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bioluminescence[edit]

Hi Ylem, I was wondering if you could tell me if the bioluminescent effect seen in File:PanellusStipticusAug12 2009.jpg was enhanced by shining a UV light on it? If so I'd like to update the image description to reflect that, and possibly update a figure caption in the species article I'm working on. This most excellent picture will be seeing a lot more eyes due to an upcoming DYK. Cheers, Sasata (talk) 06:20, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Wow! Must have been cool to find that walking in the forest! Am I reading the metadata correct - 517 second exposure? What was the location... according to the coordinates, western China? Sasata (talk) 22:01, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Bioluminescence[edit]

Hey! I'm nominating your photo of the glowing green fungi as a featured picture. The image is rather small though. Do you have a larger one saved on your computer? Something larger than the 1MP photo uploaded. If you do, let me know and I give you the email address of which you can send it to.

Also, was that exposure really over 8 minutes long?

Thanks! --AmericanXplorer13 (talk) 20:22, 30 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
