Join us for a LGBTQ Wikipedia Editathon!
We will work to improve Wikipedia's coverage of LGBTQ topics.

When: Tuesday, January 20 at 6 PM.

Focus: LGBTQ Topics

Food? Yes! We will provide pizza & refreshments.

You do not need to be an experienced Wikipedia editor in order to attend, just bring a willingness to learn (and your laptop).

Event Details

Interested in LGBTQ history and representation? Want to learn some basics of creating new Wikipedia articles? Join us to increase Wikipedia's coverage of people, places, events, and organizations important to LGBTQ history and activism in the U.S.

This event is open to the community.

Before you Arrive

  1. Please RSVP online so we know how many to expect.
  2. If you are unfamiliar with Wikipedia, try this training module, which will help explain a lot of things.
  3. Create your Wikipedia account ahead of time. If you can't, that's not a problem: we will help you at the Edit-a-thon. On the day of, you will just need to bring a laptop and power supply.

Schedule

  • 6:00pm: Check-in and welcome.
  • 6:15pm - 6:45pm: Beginner intro to Wikipedia editing
  • 6:45pm - 7:00pm: Introduction to LGBT Studies WikiProject & articles for improvement
  • 7:00pm - 8:00pm: Editathon!

Logistics

  • Location: GLAD's offices: 30 Winter St., 8th Floor
  • WiFi: Ask for password when you arrive
  • What to Bring: Attendees should bring their own WiFi-enabled laptops and power cords.
  • Contact the organizers: If you have questions ahead of time, contact us.
