New page reviewer

User:Aplucas0703

I have made many constructive edits to Wikipedia, and have a decent amount of experience in Articles for Creation, and I have approved AfC reviewer for nearly 1 year. I have had no controversy thus far while working in this area. I mainly want to focus on patrolling the backlog of redirects, but occasionally I would also review articles. I also know my limits, and only work in the areas I am confident in, or I seek help. I am big on assuming the good faith of editors and pointing them in the right direction if their efforts are misguided, as I often do at AfC. aaronneallucas (talk) 04:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aplucas0703: I took a look at your talk page and noticed that Livelikemusic recently warned you about disruptive editing and that you did not respond to this concern. I was wondering if you could provide some context as to what went on there and why you didn't respond? I'm asking because it's generally a good idea for people with advanced rights to be responsive to feedback. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 19:52, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Clovermoss I actually did respond to the user on their own talk page, though they twice erased my discussion from their talk page. The controversy arose because because I notated the stylization of the album title in an article, which is common practice. There were no in-line notes stating not to do that or directing to a discussion as is reccomended, so I was unaware their was a dispute. The only discussions had not been resolved and generally favored adding the notations, anyway. The user reverted several similar edits in the article where people had notated stylization, so that user's actions probably qualify as edit-warring, which I did warn the user of. I started another discussion on the talk page of the article to explicitly decide if we add notations or not. aaronneallucas (talk) 16:01, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, thanks for letting me know. I think I'm going to leave your request for another admin as I'm not confident enough to make a decision either way. Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 11:42, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not done. Thank you for volunteering, but in reviewing your editing history I wasn't able to find sufficient experience with the deletion process or evaluating content. I encourage you to spend some time at WP:AFD and make policy based votes to show that you're comfortable evaluating notability. Hey man im josh (talk) 11:47, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I was granted new page reviewer rights temporarily and I think that I'm ready to get them permanently since I've tagged and patroled over 50 pages now. I've also tagged many pages for deletion that were unfit for the wiki. Finally, I would like to participate in the May backlog drive. I thank the reviewing admin for their time and hope that I will be granted this perm. – PharyngealImplosive7 (talk) 16:45, 20 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

User:Melmann

Hi. I generally rotate between different maintenance activities such as RC patrol, pending changes patrol, and edit request patrol, and would like to contribute to the NPP/AFC queues too. Editing Wikipedia for 15 years, but with long bouts of low activity or inactivity, but I feel I have a strong grasp on the core policies (especially copyright-related). Despite focusing on maintenance mainly, I have created/significantly contributed to few articles, most recently XZ Utils backdoor (permalink when moved from draft to mainspace) and BG3. Thanks for your time. Melmann 22:09, 21 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hate to rush, but I'm hoping to participate in the Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/May 2024 backlog drive should the permission be granted. I'd be grateful if my request was considered before it began. Thanks. Melmann 19:11, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I regularly create pages and want to save others time from reveiwing pages created by me, in addition to that I would be able to help with the backlog. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 00:22, 22 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SheriffIsInTown: To be clear, the NPR permission does not assist with review of your own pages. If you want to "save others time from reviewing pages created by me", then you would want to request autopatrolled at WP:PERM/AP. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:39, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I will still want new page reviewers rights so I can possibly help with the backlog. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 16:48, 23 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Hey man im josh It would be nice if I can get the rights before the May backlog drive starts so I can participate in it. Sheriff | ☎ 911 | 15:05, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I requested and was granted one month of the permission previously ([1]), to participate in the January 2024 NPP backlog where I reviewed 51 articles. I have been away from Wikipedia for a few months due to personal issues, but I plan to get back into editing the next few days/weeks and would like to participate in the upcoming May backlog drive. I don't mind if the permission is granted on a permanent or temporary basis. Darcyisverycute (talk) 03:34, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done. Your activity is severely lacking, you've only made 6 edits in the last 3 months. Feel free to re-apply if your activity picks up at another point in time. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:57, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Applying since I received an invitation to join New pages patrol in order to help out with the NPP backlog. I have created well over a hundred new articles and am familiar with new articles should be reviewed, as well as how CSD, AfD, RC, and other related processes work.  Not done: It appears as though you've never participated at AFD. Your content work may be excellent, but writing content and evaluating others are different skill sets, albeit with overlapping properties. If you're interested in NPR work in the future we'd love to have you, but I'd like to see some work at WP:AFD before we-applying. Hey man im josh (talk) 12:03, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I would like to request NPP rights to help review newly-created articles and lower the backlog. To start, I have over 5500 edits on en.wiki, with over 1500 in the mainspace. I also have moderate experience in the article creation process, being a AfC reviewer and having created several articles. I also have experience in the deletion process, having tagged lots of pages for CSD (and later having most of them deleted) and participating in AfD. If the NPP right is granted, I will start carefully patrolling the NewPagesFeed and contributing to the reviewing process. Thank you for considering my request! Hello! I'm requesting New Pages Reviewer rights because I like working with new articles and editors, and I want to help with the May drive. I've been an AfC reviewer since October 2022, and know how to treat these new articles. Also, I participated in the November 2023 WPAFC drive and helped to get that backlog down to zero. I copyedit, but now I primarily work in counter-vandalism. I'm a pending changes reviewer and a rollbacker as well. Thanks! —asparagusus (interaction) sprouts! 14:37, 26 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I want to be a net positive as a new page reviewer. Especially ahead of the new page patroller drive that's upcoming. I've long been interested in coming towards this and reviewing new pages to cut down on the current backlog and it seems like a fun hobby to do via reviewing pages. I also have some AFD experience especially in identifying areas of dubious sources. Noorullah (talk) 05:45, 28 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I'm not seeing any experience with deletion processes, which are an important part of NPP. I saw NPP is running a backlog drive next month. I'd like to pitch in. I've been around for six years and been autopatrolled for nearly as long, creating about 80 articles. I've also had some decent experience in deletion, see my logs. I prefer to only hold rights while I am actively using them, so I would prefer if NPR were granted just for the drive's duration for now. – Teratix 04:22, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done Sorry, but I think you need more experience in other areas before becoming a new page patroller. Ten of the articles you've started have been deleted which prompts serious hesitation on my end. I'd encourage more AfD participation to demonstrate a strong understanding of our notability standards and maybe helping out at Articles for Creation? Clovermoss🍀 (talk) 11:53, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many thanks for the feedback. I sincerely appreciate. Over six of the deleted articles happened around two years (In 2022) due to some issues I had as a zealous and inexperienced newbie. I have been on Wikipedia for almost 12 months now and over the course of this last year-or-so, I believe I have managed to get a good grasp of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Naturally, when I started out, I had a few issues that needed to be addressed (such as my eagerness to create an article that didn't meet Wikipedia's standards and hence was nominated for speedy deletion) but I believe that over the course of those months, I have managed to learn from my mistakes that happened early on and have since not only created a handful of my own articles and re-directs but have helped improve, in a significant way, a number of already existing ones to a point where article maintenance tags could be removed from them.

I noticed a huge backlog that is being built up and would love to make myself useful by spending some of my spare time in helping clear that up and become part of the NPP team. Matthew Wellington (talk) 23:56, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I got busy in real life for most of March and April, so my request was put on hold per [3]. Here is my original reason for requesting NPR permissions again.

I have over 120 new articles under my belt, mostly relating to medieval history, monasteries, saints, and geographical features. I am familiar with the kinds of content that would fall under CSD criteria, since I have experience wikifying new pages and tagging obviously problematic new pages for speedy deletion. I know the guidelines on notability, proper sourcing, draftifying new articles, rating talk pages using scripts, AfC, AfD, and other essential patrolling tasks. Would be quite happy to reduce the backlog while being cautious and careful. Also currently a Pending Changes Reviewer. Florificapis (talk) 00:09, 1 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting new page reviewer rights

I often go through pages and pages making edits and typo fixes, grammar cleanup, and updating the articles overall appearance and optimizing different aspects of the article to follow community and portal requirements. I have made a few new article pages however a lot of the time I need some free time to complete some of them. I find it encouraging to see new articles and contributions to wikipedia and the sister projects associated in the different wiki sites and would like to involve myself more in the wiki-community! Hello. I was granted new page reviewer privileges several months ago with instructions to base my voting and reviews more on policy than opinion in order to earn full-time privileges. I have made great efforts to do just that, taking part in quite a few AfDs and becoming familiar with the policies surrounding AfDs, both concerning voting in them and creating them myself. I have actively engaged by fellow editors, using policy and precedent both to vote, recommend new pages for deletion when necessary, and argue for my positions in particularly active AfDs. I am here requesting full-time new page reviewer privileges, as I feel as though I have fulfilled both the requirements of the position and the suggestions given me over the last few months. Thank you for your consideration. Anwegmann (talk) 00:19, 2 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
