In 2003/04, "en.wikipedia.org/stats" and later "wikimedia.org/stats/en.wikipedia.org" posted monthly data on viewing statistics. The August 2003 report (preserved at archive.org [1] includes the Top 30 most requested URLs. (The list was increased to 100 URLs in October 2003.)

After removing non-article pages (but keeping the Main Page), the below list was created (in November 2016):
