Image copyright question (File:Tavisupleba Video Montage.jpg)
I'm looking for feedback regarding the copyright status of File:Tavisupleba Video Montage.jpg — an image which I produced in 2008 from screen shots of a "music video" version of the Georgian national anthem. The copyright status of this image is now being disputed.
When I uploaded this image, I proposed that it was not subject to copyright under Georgian law because it is a representation of an official symbol of state (specifically, the national anthem). What do others think of this rationale?
If the consensus is that the "official symbols of state" copyright exemption does not apply here, could use of the montage be justified instead as "fair use" — either as the montage currently stands, or in a reduced size, or with fewer screen shots?
Since I understand the file could end up being deleted in another week or so unless the copyright status issue is satisfactorily addressed in some way, I would be grateful for any knowledgeable input on this question ASAP. Thanks. Richwales (talk · contribs) 18:37, 4 January 2011 (UTC)

Cities and towns in Georgia template
Why are some of the towns in italics in the Template:Cities and towns in Georgia (country)? Also why is Tskhinvali in bold? If it is due to a convention (guideline), where can I find it? --Bejnar (talk) 17:54, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

- The italics denote the daba, a type of settlement similar to the Russian and Ukrainian "urban-type settlement". Simply to put it, these are "urbanized" large villages.--KoberTalk 20:50, 27 May 2011 (UTC)
This article about a university in Georgia is in poor shape. Not one of the sources in the article is both active and valid. I can't even find the web site of the university itself. Improving "Healthcare in Georgia"
The current Wikipedia article, “Healthcare in Georgia,” has been rated as Stub-Class on WikiProject Georgia's quality scale and as Mid-Importance on the WikiProject's importance scale. (I.e. The article provides very little meaningful content, is too short to provide encyclopedic coverage, and is capable of much expansion. And its subject is only notable within a particular field, place, or area.) With editing, the stub class could be eliminated, and the topic’s relevance could be expanded so it will be deemed to be of greater importance.
The current article contains a statement on the life expectancy of Georgians in 2005 and another on the Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Affairs that oversees Georgia’s health care system. In addition to these two concise sentences, the page also contains a link to “phage therapy,” which is, according to its Wikipedia page, an experimental treatment that has not yet been approved for use in countries other than Georgia. Phage therapy may be an interesting and experimental discovery that Georgia can claim as its own, but it is not particularly relevant to Georgia’s healthcare system – its effectiveness, financing, accessibility, regulation, structure, and reforms – or to the health status of the people of the Republic of Georgia. The page also provides an external link to the World Health Organization’s web page for Georgia, but this is the extent of the existing page on “Healthcare in Georgia.”
This page has the potential to provide a wealth of information on Georgia’s developing health care system, but, as Wikipedia users have recognized, it lacks the quantity and quality of information to qualify as an encyclopedia entry.

Mentioning that Stalin was Georgian in the Georgian Affair article.
I think that is a good thing to put somewhere in the article that Stalin was Georgian-born and he led the USSR at this time so it would be great to let people know the leader was also Georgian.--Wonderman91 (talk) 19:51, 17 December 2011 (UTC)
Oh it's been added the two Georgian-born at "Georgian-born Soviet Russian officials, Joseph Stalin, then People's Commissar for Nationalities for the RSFSR, and Sergo Ordzhonikidze, head of the Transcaucasian Regional Committee (Zaikkraikom) of the Russian Communist Party."

Arab Georgia/Emirate of Tbilisi
Hi! I've just created, as suggested on the Project page, the article Arab Georgia. However, it has almost immediately been erased and replaced by a redirect to Emirate of Tbilisi by User:GeorgianJorjadze. I don't think this change is right, for reasons I have put down on the talk page Talk:Arab Georgia, and have consequently reverted them. The same user has also made some changes to the emirate article without sourcing them, and removed citation needed tags. I'm trying to build an article about a part of Georgia's history that is poorly represented now on the English wikipedia, and would appreciate if other contributors and project members would join the debate. Problem with Template:History of Georgia
Hi! New day, new conflict between me and User:GeorgianJorjadze, it seems! I would greatly appreciate it if any of you could come have a look at it and participate in the discussion.
I initiated a discussion there on the talk page before changing the actual template, and started implementing the changes only after getting feedback from the other interested participant. I feel some changes are objectively needed to bring this template to the standards present in other similar ones, and have explained them in more and more detail as the discussion progressed, while GeorgianJorjadze mostly stated his preference for the old version. He's reverted any attempt I, and another unrelated contributer, have made at changing the template. Confronted with particular problems, he fixed them partially on his own rather than trying to work out a compromise version including some of my changes, as I did repeatedly with his own. After his last revert, instead of answering my arguments for the changes, he went to ask an admin to protect the template on the grounds that I am edit warring (User_talk:Wifione#Template:History of Georgia). I don't accuse him of edit warring, rather of poor ability to negociate compromises and admit he is not the only editor with rights on that template. For information, the version as it stands is his (he last reverted it to how it was before the discussion started, removing also the changes he had made), you can find my last attempts in the article history (last one is http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:History_of_Georgia&oldid=491463391). I've exposed on the talk page reasons for all of them, last one is the most detailed. I would also appreciate if you (and other editors) could comment on a possible change of image (from the old map now used to the georgian coat of arms), for the sake of consistency with similar templates, and the inclusion or not of dates (I proposed a version with, but am rather neutral on the subject). Rating of Bagration-Davitashvili
Could some knowledgeable person please go to Talk:Bagration-Davitashvili and provide an independent review of the rating information? Before a recent edit by a sock (which I reverted just now), the next-most-recent edit (see here) was made several months earlier, by the sockmaster of said sock. The user in question, GeorgianJorjadze (talk · contribs), is currently indefinitely blocked, but he was not blocked at the time he made this edit in April, so I don't really think I can revert it per WP:BAN#Evasion and enforcement. Infobox birthplace info (Soviet era)
Is there a standard or consensus for how a birthplace should be described in an infobox when someone was born in Georgia while it was still part of the USSR?
Things don't seem to be uniform right now. Consider the following three examples of well-known Georgians born before independence:
- Bidzina Ivanishvili: Chorvila, Soviet Union (now Georgia)
- Katie Melua: Kutaisi, Georgian SSR, Soviet Union
- Eka Tkeshelashvili: Tbilisi, Georgia
It would seem reasonable to handle these (and other similar) articles in a consistent fashion. I note, for what it's worth, that the documentation for Template:Infobox person says that birth (and death) places should be identified using the name in effect for the place at the time of the event. — Richwales 00:38, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- There's no consensus, but I think Melua's model is the most reasonable. "...(now Georgia)" sounds a bit weird as it was still Georgia back then, albeit under a different name and regime.--KoberTalk 03:49, 8 October 2012 (UTC)

Category:Imperial Russian people by occupation
There is a proposal to merge Category:Imperial Russian people by occupation to Category:Russian people by occupation. Since Georgia was part of the Russian Empire this has the potential to effect how many articles related to Gerogia are categorized.John Pack Lambert (talk) 00:18, 10 December 2012 (UTC)

Please check major editing of templates
Hi. An IP user, 176.73.158.209 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), has been making major changes at Template:Ancient Georgians and several other pages. His edits do not include any edit summaries, and my request at his talk page for an explanation of the reasons behind his changes has so far been ignored. Did Georgia leave the Interstate Aviation Committee?
The website of the Interstate Aviation Committee still says Georgia is a member, even though Georgia left the CIS. Because of WP:V Wikipedia still has to say Georgia is a part of the IAC unless one can find a source explicitly saying that Georgia left the IAC. Does anyone have knowledge of such sources?

Georgian Braille
Does anyone have a source for Georgian Braille? All I can find is Unesco (1990), which is a notoriously unreliable reference. Unesco (2013) was unable to confirm, and so merely repeated what they had in 1990. I'd like to create an article, but it's not worth the effort if we don't have something better to go on. Freedom of religion in Georgia — looking for comments
Hi. I've done a major revision (essentially a total rewrite) of the article on Freedom of religion in Georgia, in preparation for (hopefully) nominating it for Good Article status. I would be grateful for feedback — especially any information about reliable sources which might cast a more positive light on the attitudes and actions of the Georgian Orthodox Church and its adherents towards followers of other faiths (or of no faith). Right now, the article feels heavily biased against the GOC, but given what the sources I've found so far are saying, I don't see any way to change this and still satisfy the NPOV policy requirement that an article must fairly and proportionately represent what the published reliable sources say. — Richwales (no relation to Jimbo) 23:36, 1 January 2014 (UTC)

orders of the "crown" (?) of Georgia
I've just now deleted "Order of the Crown of Georgia", simply because it was a re-creation of an article deleted via Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Order of the Crown of Georgia. But come to think of it, what about Order of the Eagle of Georgia and Order of Saint Queen Tamar (and perhaps others)? These look to me like fictions spun by and for a merely fictional monarch. However, I cannot read Georgian and therefore would not be able to read sources in Georgian (if these exist). -- Hoary (talk) 02:21, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Help with an article?
I was wondering if anyone would help out at the draft article Draft:Lamara Qoqiauri. It was recently deleted at AfD and was re-created by a new user (Surprizi). It's extremely likely that coverage for her will only be in Georgian, so I think that this would greatly benefit from having someone fluent in the language (or fluent enough to perform a search) helping and guiding them. I figured that rather than outright delete this as a recreation, it'd be better to send it to the draftspace because of the likeliness of a language barrier. - The editor also seems to be ESL, so someone who could discuss details in their native language would be helpful in case there are any topics that may not come across as easily in English. Multiple GA nominations from a topic banned user
Greetings. I am starting the review of Claim of the biblical descent of the Bagrationi dynasty and I noticed that the nominating user, user:Jaqeli, is topic banned for anything Georgia related. Since the article should not suffer I am still doing the review, if anyone feels like picking up on any changes that's cool, if not that's cool too. Side note - there are 7-8 articles nominated at the same time by the same user coming up. With the GA Cup going on right now I expect those to be reviewed in the next couple of days. Auto-assessment of article classes
Following a recent discussion at WP:VPR, there is consensus for an opt-in bot task that automatically assesses the class of articles based on classes listed for other project templates on the same page. In other words, if WikiProject A has evaluated an article to be C-class and WikiProject B hasn't evaluated the article at all, such a bot task would automatically evaluate the article as C-class for WikiProject B.

Georgian nationalism
Has anyone noticed that we don't have an article for Georgian nationalism? We should probably have one right? Charles Essie (talk) 22:24, 20 September 2016 (UTC)
Could a 'task force' of one or two or more editors have a look at the above. Both I and separately another reader (5 months before me) have asked about a contradiction in the article about whether the former President lost his citizenship through being stripped of it or voluntarily giving it up. Cannabis in Georgia (country) needs improvement
We have a new article Cannabis in Georgia (country), but it could really use improvement and expansion, especially from anyone who can read Georgian or Russian sources. With a little polishing, it'd also be really useful to make a translated version for Georgian Wikipedia since it's a topic of increasing interesting these days.
