Method of Answering[edit]

Just wondering: Where will people post their answers, and how will we keep people from seeing the answers of others? EWikistTalk 22:40, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have updated the page for you. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 22:43, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If they do that, won't they see everyone else's answers there too, inadvertently? What if we had them put them on their own talkpage? They'd still be able to cheat, but this is the honor system. Also, would we keep score or would they? I've set a score page here. EWikistTalk 22:46, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I get what you say about putting it on their talkpage, so that would be better. I will keep score. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 22:51, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Since we are on the WP userspace, we should keep content on here. If you want, so you're talk page doesn't get cluttered, we can just have a spot below the quiz to announce that you've answered it. Then we can check their talk page. EWikistTalk 22:54, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Great idea!! I'll do that right now. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 22:55, 17 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Answering and Scoring[edit]

Okay, I think I've got a pretty good system worked out (see the main page). If you have any questions feel free to ask me! EWikistTalk 18:42, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I have an idea for awards:
  • 100 points
  • 500 points
  • 1000 points
  • 5000 points
  • 10000 points
  • 50000 points
  • 100000 points
  • 500000 points
  • 1000000 points.
  • ...and so on.

Do you think this is a good idea? - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 20:04, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think that would be great! Would the awards be userboxes or Barnstars? I think that the first few should be userboxes (maybe to 5000), and the rest upwards be Barnstars. Also, it might be easier if we scored each correct answer as 10 points, making the maximum points per quiz 100 (see main page). EWikistTalk 20:08, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with your idea, I am going to post a sample quiz on there. What day do you think we should start the real quizzes? - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 20:10, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hmm... good question. Now, it'll probably be a little while before we start getting interest in the project, but I'd say start the quizzes as soon as possible, and, with good promotion, we'll get some people coming. Also, how often do you think we should do quizzes? We could have several going at once, maybe with different themes? EWikistTalk 20:21, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I was thinking one a week, but we could have 2 or 3 running, with different topics. Heck, we could have one per subject or something (e.g. Social Studies, Science, Math, etc.). I thought we could start Sunday or Monday. What do you think? - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 20:24, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Sounds good! I also wanted to mention what we should do about naming conventions for the quizzes. Each quiz should be individually identifiable by a unique name, and I was thinking something along the lines of the date it was published and the topic (like 8.18.10 American History). I see no problem with popping out new quizzes as often as we want, as long as we can keep up with the scoring (which probably won't be an issue). Also, the wider range of topics we have, the wider range of people we'll have coming. EWikistTalk 20:30, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That sounds good. I have just posted the sample quiz. I can email you the answers if you want. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 20:40, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Nah, I'll try it out for myself :) Looks good! EWikistTalk 20:45, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I tried it quickly (guessed on a chunk of 'em), and I think its really go! Its challenging but possible. Well done! I'll have to make a quiz some time... EWikistTalk 21:00, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
If you post a quiz, I'll try it out for myself. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 21:08, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I will, but it'll probably be tomorrow. Oh, and don't forget to put my answers in the Bin and use the {{WikiQuizDone|SCORE}} template! :) EWikistTalk 21:18, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't know about these templates, I will use them from now on. - Talk to you later, Presidentman (talk) Random Picture of the Day (Talkback) 00:49, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I made us an advertisement (below) and put it in the advertisement template, as well as the generic advertisements. EWikistTalk 19:57, 18 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

General Notes[edit]

I like the message you sent me about the new quiz, but I'd suggest putting a link to it in there. Also, looking at the front page, we should probably put newer quizzes at the top. EWikistTalk 01:44, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I think I have a solution. I'll put it up and see what you say. EWikistTalk 01:45, 19 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Inactive[edit]

Since it appears that this is fairly inactive (I checked the dates of things after I got interested), I have removed my answers from my talk page (it takes up quite a bit of space). However, if anyone ever decides to revive this project or whatnot, here are the answers I had (it's in the no-wiki format): {{WikiQuizAnswers|8/19/10 Mathematics|Scholarly Breeze|A: Albert Einstein|B: Greek|True|B: .5|C: 1800's|E: None of the above|False|B: Foot|B: 42|D: The volume of a sphere}} --~ScholarlyBreeze~ 01:20, 8 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
