ISBN ADDITION[edit]

I would like to add ISBN #'s to the books in the Series but I don't want to Mess up the summary --Sandpanther 02:13, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

Reply

There are ISBN numbers on the J.R. Ward page here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J.R._Ward

Thanks , I added them earlier, Good Work on the BDB Page

Ahh, thank you! Been trying hard to be true to the greatness that is the BDB, yet not put up spoilers!

I have been a bit one sided as well - loads on the Brothers but not much about the Shellans... will have to address that soon!! But I'm glad you approve! xxx Heidi2003 01:11, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added Frapper Link[edit]

I Added the Frapper Link to the external links. Link is also on the J.R. Ward --Sandpanther 11:40, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Wiki Site --Sandpanther 21:09, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

Vishous Picture & Spoilers[edit]

Uploaded the cover that appears on Amazon, not the specail preview from J.R.'s message board. Hope that's kool!

Also, I removed "certain info" on Tohr that was in the 'Character section'. Out of curtesy to new readers/ people who've never read the books can we keep the page free of such important spoilers? My argument: Yes, there are other spoilers on the page, those which can't be helped, but the "certain info" is a very, very compelling peice of writing and I think it should be experienced without spoilers. And, I mean, the page is for people who've never read the books as much as it is for fans. If that's okay? =D --Heidi2003 23:21, 20 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Works for me Heidi I also wanted to let you know about another BDB Wiki at http://www.romancewiki.com feel free to email me off wiki sandpanther@yahoo.com The page is quite incomplete--Sandpanther 11:56, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Kool, Chris! I had no idea that there was a special wiki for romance. Thanks for letting me now. It does need a bit of fixing up doesn't it? I'll try to help. But got exams at the moment so not for a while yet. You can get started whenever you like. :D :D Heidi2003 23:30, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

UPDATE: Picture updated as J.R. site has been updated. I believe that the cover will be much more turquiose than Amazon displays, so this is more true to the actual cover. Heidi2003 22:46, 25 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

External Links[edit]

I restored the external links because they are authors offical sites and chat groups with the exception of the Frappr site.--Sandpanther 11:40, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Restoring Yahoo Group[edit]

I restored the Black Dagger Brotherhood Yahoo Group because it is relevent to the article The Author mentions the group in her dedication. The group is one of the author's official discussion groups - allowable per WP policy

'REVAMP[edit]

While I, for one, found those tags to be utterly unnecessary, not good for me since I spent hours on this page making it the best I could in the limited time I have, I have tried my hardest to remove all "advertising" from the page.

I removed the parts from LR and LU because those were taken straight from the blurbs and maybe that's why the page sounded like that. I added references as well.83.67.207.55 15:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC) (Heidi2003)[reply]

Also, I don't know why it is a big deal, come on it's a tiny article that explains the BDB. Nothing big. *Sigh*

Here's an example: "In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There also exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race."

This sentence reads like it was copied directly from the blurb on the back side of the book.

I hope that clears up your confusion.

Comments[edit]

As you can see this page means a lot to me, I can't help feeling picked on, but please explain your advertisement thing. Point out a place that is biased in anyway and I'll be happy to change it. I just don't see it yet and would like your guidance since you seem to know all of this. (Sorry if that sounds mean, but this is a tad frustrating.)

The tag is not just for you, so please leave it in. It alerts fellow editors to the fact that there are problems with this article. The tag is appropriate for any article that contains material that is promotional in tone. This whole article reads like it was compiled from the promotional blurbs on the back of the book.TheRingess (talk) 20:44, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As Heidi2003 and several other IP addresses I've written by MYSELF the book summaries. I'm also a writer, well an amateur one and have strived to make the Book Summaries exciting and suspenseful. I'm sorry if it comes off as a blurb. Here are the actual blurbs for the books: http://www.jrward.com/index-books.html. So is it a copyright issue?

Also the info is taken JUST from the Author's OFFICIAL site. Not a fansite. And it is where I got the information. This and the novels themselves. I've referenced both of these how can I make it more clear????

Don't just put up tags and not explain what you want instead. Please. 83.67.207.55 21:00, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let's back up here for a second. Of course, the websites and the novels are considered reliable sources about themselves. The point of the {{primarysources}} template is to point out that those aren't enough for a good article. For example, reviews in reputable newspapers might also count as extra sources. If there really are no sources other than the author and the books, then I question the whole necessity for this article. If that really is the case, then this article should probably be a subsection on the author's page and not a separate article. The primary sources template is there to bring potential problems to the attention of the larger community so that other interested editors can help improve the overall quality of the article.

TheRingess (talk) 23:12, 21 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no NEED for the article as a whole. I mean no one really NEEDS to know about these books, I just thought they might. I'm so angry right now that I can't type. This is over for me. I still don't get the refs tag and I don't care anymore. I practically did this on my own, and I'm not discounting the help of others ESP Chris AKA Sandpanther. But look at the history page for Heidi2003 and other IPs yourself. I've actually tried--worked my butt off-- and then you say I did this all for nothing. I'm so over this. 83.67.207.55 11:18, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sources and clean-up needed[edit]

I closed the recent AfD as No Consensus. The books appear to be notable but the article is is very poor shape. To establish notability, every article needs independent sources. Reviews, mentions in books about the genre, etc. are important in showing that this is a notable series. Secondly, articles should be structured with an out-of-universe style reflecting the effect of the series on the "real world" rather than just the world it depicts. This means that detailed lists of the jargon used in the series and all the characters, etc. are probably not necessary and should be trimmed. Eluchil404 21:37, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Jrw-cover-lr-med2.jpg[edit]

Image:Jrw-cover-lr-med2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Trainwreck[edit]

This article is kind of a trainwreck. It's little more than a list of characters. The article is really quite unencyclopediac. Also, the first six references are all to the same reference and thus are actually just one reference. And forums are not reliable sources. This entire article thus has only one real source. It needs heavy trimming. 12.146.27.187 (talk) 10:40, 10 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
