Congratulations on your first archive! Regarding the redirect from your user page to your talk page, I hear your logic, but you're still the only one of thousands (millions?) of editors who doesn't have a user page. As you can see from my userpage, I don't write any biographical information, just a few userboxes and a list of articles I've created. At the very least, I'm sure you can find something in WP:userboxes to put on your user page. Membership report
The parent Christianity WikiProject currently has 357 active members. We would like to welcome our newest members, Thomas Cranmer, Mr.Oglesby, and Sneha Priscilla. Thank you all for your interest in this effort. We would be able to achieve nothing here without the input of all of you. If any members, new or not, wish any assistance, they should feel free to leave a message at the Christianity noticeboard or with me or other individual editors to request it.

From the Editor

We apologise for the hiatus in the publication of this newsletter due to unforseen circumstances leading to the wikibreak of John Carter, and so I have taken over as acting editor, and have taken this opportunity to move the publication date to the start of each month as planned, to better reflect on the previous month and look ahead to the next. This issue covers the period of time from mid-January to the end of March.

Since the last issue we have seen the resignation of Pope Benedict XVI and the election of Pope Francis. This has received much coverage both in the world media and on Wikipedia. While there is still much work to do, several quality articles have been written and the editors involved are thanked for their efforts.

This month we look ahead to Easter and the celebration of God's love for mankind through the crucifixion and resurrection of his Son Jesus Christ. With that, I wish you all happy reading!

Contest of the month
No particular contest this month. I am however getting rather close to getting together a more or less complete set of articles relating to different areas of Christianity which can be found in recent reference sources on the broad topic of Christianity, and about various subtopics, which I hope to have finished in the next few weeks. I wonder what the rest of you might think of, maybe, making the contests of future months be basically directed at filling in the gaps of our existing coverage of topics, like those topics given significant coverage in specialized reference works which we don't yet have content on, and giving the thanks, and rewards, whatever they might be, to those who create and develop such content. I am starting a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Christianity noticeboard#Future contests, and would very much welcome any input from interested parties in how to set it up, determine winners including how many winners, etc.

Complete recording

Jesus nahm zu sich die Zwölfe, BWV 22, a cantata by the German composer J.S. Bach, was promoted to GA this month and was written by Gerda Arendt. Many thanks for her continuing work in the area of early 18th Century Church music.

Spotlight

The Spotlight this month turns to the the Jesus work group. The scope of this project includes the life and teachings of the central figure of Christianity, Jesus Christ and aims to write about them in a non-denominational encylopædic style. Top-priority articles include Jesus, Christ, Resurrection of Jesus, and Holy Grail, whereas High-priority articles include Aramaic Language, a former FA, as well as Sermon on the Mount, Lamb of God, and Passion (Christianity). The workgroup has also published two books, covering Christ's final days and the Parables of Jesus. The workgroup has two GAs, Nativity scene, and Jesus in Islam, but unfortunately the flagship article, Jesus was delisted in 2009. It is also responsible for three WP:1.0 articles, and the WikiWork of the project is 4.56, which indicates the "average" article is between Start and C class.

Calendar
This coming month (end-March through end-April) includes Easter Sunday in Western Christianity and both Lazarus Saturday and Palm Sunday for the Eastern Orthodox Church. Other major feasts in the next month include those of Saint George, Saint Mark the Evangelist, Saint Stanislaus, James, son of Zebedee, and Benedict the Moor.

Victor Maghakian

Hi Proudbolsahye. I just noticed that you reverted part of my edit to the article Victor Maghakian that removed the ribbons and service medals from the infobox, citing George S. Patton as an example that they are included. However, the Patton article does not actually include either the service medals nor ribbons in the infobox, only the notable decorations Patton received. Also, per Template:Infobox military person, the medals section of the infobox is exclusively for "any notable awards or decorations the person received". Hi Proudbolsahye. Sorry for the delay in reply. No problem about Patton, it happens. :) In regards to Maghakian's infobox, the infobox is meant to be a quick summary of information about the person, containing only key information succinctly. The ribbon icons, in my opinion, detract from the information, serve to clutter the infobox and are not the correct place for them to be. I know you pointed out the case of the John Shalikashvili article, but I think the ribbons presented in such a way in the infobox in that case is unhelpful and a waste as most people will not know what each of the ribbons denote and will have to either hover over them or click on them to find out, which should not have to be the case: it should be presented just there. The article is the place where extensive information and detail is intended to be discussed, as you have done in Maghakian, but not too much information placed in the infobox. As for the service medals, as noted above the awards section of the infobox is only meant to relate the notable awards one received, and not service medals. Maghakian is notable for his awards of the Navy Cross, Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart (the ones that should most definitely be listed in the infobox). If he had just received the service medals like everyone else who had served in his unit or the same theatres of war that he did, then he would not actually be notable enough for inclusion here. I think you would be better off expanding the awards section of the article and keeping the infobox succinct. Cheers, Abraham, B.S. (talk) 02:26, 4 April 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of reliably sourced material

Your edit [1] seems to delete reliably sourced material without proper reasoning. 14 words is not going to add "more info about its neolithic settlements than the current modern city." Cavann (talk) 00:02, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

You can't just add loads of material to an article whether it be sourced or not and expect it to be accepted by the Wikipedia community. At this point, the information you're attempting to add has been challenged not only as part of the lead but as in the article itself. I fully agree that neolithic settlement information should be placed in the article, but there needs a line to be drawn. If anything, that line should be established in the TP of Istanbul/Turkey. If you're not willing to open up a section in the TP of these articles, I will do it myself. Proudbolsahye (talk) 00:12, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Talk Page. Cavann, it is not just this single edit that you made which I believe brought you over the line, it is the continuous edits (additions) you made this past month of so. Basically, it is under the context of your much of your edits in the article that has provoked me to revert. But like I said, my TP isn't a place to talk about this. If you'd like we can move over to the TP of Istanbul and continue there. That way, we can sit and investigate the past additions and see if they conform to a general consensus.

Notice articles like London#Prehistory_and_antiquity, and remember that few editors cannot change the consensuses of general community (with respect to policies). I'm open to discussion, but you, Dr.K., and Athenean do not form a consensus, especially given your systematically converging positions in Turkey-related articles. I never said my opinion was detrimental to your additions, I merely just said discussing your additions would be a better option than to unilaterally add hundreds of characters worth of information. @Cavann: What about Alessandro, are his views "systematically convergent" as well? Should they similarly be discredited? After all, he opposed you both with respect to the Neolithic stuff and the economic predictions stuff. Is everyone who disagrees with you "systematically convergent"? Is that how you rationalize consensus against you? Btw, I'm glad you brought up London. Because even though it has considerable prehistory in the history section, it has nothing in the lede on prehistory. So it seems the problem is not "systematically convergent views" of others, but rather your own "wildly divergent views". Divergent from the wikipedia mainstream, whether it is including information about Neolithic fishing villages in the lead of Istanbul or predictions that Turkey's economy will be the fastest growing in the world through 2060. Bu haritada bir sürü yanlıslıklar var sadece söylemek istedim. There are a lot of mistakes in the map.

Istanbul, Izmit, SIVAS, BITLIS, DIYARBAKIR, GIRESUN, Islahiye, ERZINCAN ve KAYSERI büyük İ ile yazılmalı yoksa yanlışça I oluyor. DİYARBAKIR mesela. You have to write those cities with a big İ in order to distinguish it from I, which is a complete different letter with a different pronounciation.

Adrianople Türkcede kullanılmadı. Edirne yeter. İzmir de yeter, Antakya da yeter.

You have removed the section below which I had entered to Armenian genocide,

You have given the reasons 1) Horrible English 2) This isn't about how Turks lived or how they compared to Armenians. 3) Stop adding 1,000+ characters without consensus My answers are, 1) Horrible English : It is not something I wrote but it is a telegram from British Consul in Ottoman Empire to London. And if there is any grammar mistake, you can suggest to correct the mistakes, not removing it. 2) This isn't about how Turks lived or how they compared to Armenians. : This section talks about how Armenians are treated in Ottoman Empire. And this document I reference to is about how they are treated, how other subjects of Ottoman Empire are treated. Therefore it is exactly about the topic. If you need any clarification, I will be happy to help. 3)Stop adding 1,000+ characters without consensus : What I have added is a official report of British Consul, not a comment from newspaper or someones own view. There can be consensus about false information but facts (which this report is) cannot be false (though contents are always subject to discussion.)

Please answer the points above, if you agree or disagree and please stick to Wikipedia rules before removing any referenced content.

• I don't think you are understanding the main point that I am trying to make. The section is about Armenian life in the Ottoman Empire and therefore it does not mean that their lives or lifestyles should be compared with that of Turks or Muslims. Please read WP:RELEVANT and WP:COATRACK. The section does not intend on providing a comparative analysis of the way Armenians lived amongst their Muslim neighbors. Although it may or may not be true that Armenians lived better lives than Turks, this addition goes far beyond what the section intends to inform, even if the source is reliable or not. • Thank you, then why haven't you removed completely the paragraphs above under the same topic which goes "There, the Armenians were subject to the whims of their Turkish and Kurdish neighbors, who would regularly overtax them..." and compares the living conditions of Armenians to others. Could you please explain more.
• Another point, you have removed the same stuff second time, with comment "excessive material" what do you mean by that ?
